Chicago Bulls (19-18) at Washington Wizards (18-18)
NBA: Tuesday, January 10, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. ET
Line: Washington -10
The Chicago Bulls hit the road to take on the Washington Wizards for a Tuesday night contest. The two teams have split their two meetings this season. In the most recent meeting on Dec. 21, the Wizards beat the Bulls 107-97. John Wall led the Wizards with 23 points and nine assists. Chicago has won three straight games, while Washington has won two in a row. Jimmy Butler leads the Bulls as he is averaging 25.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Washington is led by their fantastic backcourt of Wall and Bradley Beal. Wall is averaging 23.1 points and 10.1 assists, and Beal is putting up 22.2 points. Can Wall lead his Wizards to a big win against Butler and the Bulls?
Jimmy Butler unstoppable
Chicago is playing their best basketball in quite some time and the biggest reason is Jimmy Butler. Butler has led the Bulls on a daily basis and has been as consistent as any player in the Eastern Conference. The 27-year-old is averaging 34.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists over the last six games. The Bulls have won five of their last seven games and as a result have moved up to seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Chicago is only half a game behind Indiana for the fifth seed in the conference.
Players like Nikola Mirotic and Doug McDermott have stepped up as of late as well. Over the last five games, Mirotic is averaging 11.6 points and McDermott is putting up 13.6 points.
Bradley Beal leads Wizards to win
The Washington Wizards beat the Milwaukee Bucks 107-101 on Sunday afternoon. Washington took control when they outscored Milwaukee 33-21 in the third quarter. Beal led the Wizards with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Markieff Morris had 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Wizards out-rebounded the Bucks 49-32 in the contest. Milwaukee shot 46 percent from the field and Washington shot 49 percent. The Wizards had trouble containing Jabari Parker who had 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. John Wall wound up with 16 points and seven assists in the win.
Kelly Oubre Jr added 17 points (7/14 fg) and five rebounds off the bench. Washington had 21 turnovers and Milwaukee committed 16. The Wizards fell to 4-12 on the road this season.
The Chicago Bulls are:
- 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
- 15-36 ATS in their last 51 vs. NBA Southeast.
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest.
- 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
The Washington Wizards are:
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference.
- 10-1 ATS in their last 11 home games.
- 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Central.
The Bulls have a big edge with Jimmy Butler but it won’t be enough. Washington’s backcourt (Wall/Beal) is simply too good for Chicago’s look for that to be the difference. The Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference.
The pick: Washington
