Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings, 01/10/17 – Prediction & Preview
Written by: Jason Green
Detroit Pistons (18-21 SU, 18-21 ATS, 18-21 O/U) at Sacramento Kings (15-22 SU, 19-17-1 ATS, 16-21 O/U)
NBA: Tuesday, January 10, 2016 at 10:30 p.m. ET
The Line: Kings -2
After a tough stretch where the Pistons lost seven of eight games they have rebounded and have won three of their last four games including their last two. They only sit 1.5 games out of the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference and while their offense is not a high scoring one they rank 5th in the NBA in opponents’ ppg. However, in their last two games they have scored at least 115 points while giving up at least 114 points.
The Kings are in a bit of a nosedive as of late losers of three straight and five of their last six games. They have DeMarcus Cousins, who is the best big man in the game, according to Draymond Green, but Sacto still only ranks 21st in the league in ppg and 17th in opponents’ ppg.
The Pistons have covered the spread in seven of their last eight road games against the Kings.
Lighting up the scoreboard
While the Pistons are known for their D they lit up the scoreboard in their last game beating the Portland Trailblazers 125-124 in 2OT. In the game neither team played much D with the Pistons shooting 51.4% from the floor and the Blazers shooting 52%. The Blazers shot a better 3-pt FG%, but they also committed 19 turnovers. Detroit big man Andre Drummond, who ranks 2nd in the league in rpg, had a big game going for 28 points and 14 boards and Reggie Jackson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope combined for 57 points. Jackson leads the team in scoring (17.6 ppg) and Detroit has six players averaging in double figures. The Pistons are 8-12 on the road this season.
Letting the game go in the 3rd quarter
The Kings had a tall task in their last game facing the Golden State Warriors and it was close until the 3rd quarter where they were outscored by 17 points. Sacramento lost the game 117-106 and they shot a solid 48.6% from the floor. But allowed the Warriors to shoot 50.6%. Even with Cousins on the floor grabbing 10 boards the Kings only had one offensive rebound in the game while Golden State had 13. Cousins did have a pretty solid game on the glass, but only went for 17 points on 4/11 shooting.
The Kings only have three players scoring in double figures and the two guys the Pistons have to keep in check are Cousins and Rudy Gay, who are combining to average nearly 47 ppg. The Kings are 7-10 at home this season.
The Detroit Pistons Are:
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Western Conference
- 5-2-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NBA Pacific
The Sacramento Kings are:
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games
- 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference
The Kings are the slight home favorite in this game, but the Pistons are on a roll. After scoring 125 points in their last game they are confident and they will not only cover the spread in this game, but get the W as well.
PICK: Pistons +2
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
