NCAAB: Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 7 p.m. ET
The Line: Davidson -15
After a solid start, the wheels have really fallen off for Fordham, as they have lost nine of their last 10 games and three in a row. Those last three losses put the Rams at 0-3 in Atlantic 10 play. Their big issue this season has been scoring the rock, as they only are averaging 67.8 ppg. The Rams have lost all five road games they have played this season.
Davidson snapped their two-game losing streak in their last game, which was their first Atlantic 10 win. They have a decent offensive attack with a solid star G in Jack Gibbs, who is averaging nearly 22 ppg, but the defense has let them down giving up 71.6 ppg. The Wildcats are 4-1 at home this season.
Bad all around game
Fordham had a bad all around game in their last one where they were outscored by 15 points in the first half in losing to St. Joseph’s 70-55. They were pretty bad on both ends of the floor only shooting 33.3% and allowing St. Joseph’s to shoot 52.8%. They lost badly even though they forced five more turnovers and had more offensive boards. Antwoine Anderson and reserve Will Tavares were the high scorers for the Rams with only 12 points each and they only combined to shoot 10/28 from the floor. Fordham does have four players that are averaging in double figures led by Javontae Hawkins (13.4 ppg), but none of them are shooting over 43% from the floor
Back in the W column after a great first half
Davidson beat St. Louis in their last game 77-66 and they mainly won because of a hot start where they outscored St. Louis by 19 points in the first half. For the game both teams shot a similar FG% and St. Louis was much hotter from beyond the 3-pt arc, but the Rams forced 13 turnovers. Peyton Aldridge scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half and he got help with two other starters going for at least 15 points. Both Gibbs and Aldridge are combining to average at least 21 ppg and 6’11” FW Will Magarity is averaging 9.2 ppg and 6.1 rpg and he had nine boards in the win over St. Louis. Last season when Davidson faced Fordham in the only meeting, which was on the road, the Wildcats lost to the Rams 91-82.
The Fordham Rams are:
- 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games
- 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall
- 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record
- 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record
The Davidson Wildcats are:
- 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400
While Davidson has failed to cover in their last four games they facing a Fordham team that is reeling and winless on the road on the season. Take the Wildcats in this one for the win and to cover the spread.
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
