Pookie Powell chipped in with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Explorers. La Salle shot just 42.9 percent from the field but they made up for it by making 10 of 25 three-pointers (40%). They held Duquesne to 43.7 percent shooting and forced 12 turnovers.
La Salle averages 81.5 points per game and shoots 46.3 percent from the floor. They allow 79.5 points per game and teams are shooting 47.3 percent from the field against them (40.8% 3pt). Johnson leads the Explorers in scoring with 19.1 points per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the floor (40.7% 3pt). Price adds 17.2 points and 43.9 percent shooting from the floor.
Rams give away game against Flyers
Rhode Island turned the ball over 17 times in a sloppy performance from Dayton (67-64 loss). Kuran Iverson scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Rams. Stanford Robinson scored 13 points off the bench, while E.C. Matthews added 13 for URI. They shot 44 percent from the floor and 10-of-21 (47.6%) from beyond the arc. Dayton shot 46.9 percent from the field and made 17 of 26 from the line (65.4%).
On the season, the Rams average 74.9 points per game and 46.6 percent from the field (37.3% 3pt). They allow 64.2 points per game and 41.2 percent (31% 3pt) from the field. Matthews leads the Rams with 15.1 points per game and shoots 45.5 percent from the field. Forward Hassan Martin adds 14.6 points per game and shoots 65.5 percent from the field.
College Basketball Trends:
La Salle is:
- 1-5-1 ATS last 7 Thursday games.
- 3-8 ATS last 11 road games.
- 16-7 ATS last 23 vs. a team with a losing road record.
- 4-1 ATS last 5 in series.
Rhode Island has covered four of the last five in this series and the favorite has gone 7-3-1 the last 11 meetings. La Salle has two talented offensive players but if URI shuts one of them down, this game will be an ugly blowout. And it will.
Pick: Rhode Island -11.5
