The Line: UTSA -3
Florida Atlantic is four games under .500, but they did get their first Conference USA win in their last game beating Florida International. They have only won two in a row once early in the season and to repeat that they have to beat UTSA on the road and the Owls have lost three of their four road games this season. FAU has struggled on both sides of the court on the season and their D may be more important in this game, as they only rank 242nd in the nation in ppg.
UTSA got off to a horrible start to the season, but they have rebounded and won four of their last five games. They are sitting at 2-1 in conference play and they went over .500 with a win over Louisiana Tech in their last game, which was on the road. This season at home the Roadrunners are 6-0.
Solid all around effort
Florida Atlantic got their first conference win of the season with a solid all around game beating Florida International 73-64. They shot 47.2% from the floor and held FIU to only 39.6% shooting. The Owls forced 16 turnovers in the game and they started well by outscoring FIU by 10 points in the first half. G Nick Rutherford led four players that scored in in double figures with 14 points The Owls have three players that are all averaging in double figures, but none is averaging over 11 ppg. One of those players is 7” C Ronald Delph, who leads the teams averaging 7.8 rpg.
2nd half propels UTSA to road win
UTSA beat Louisiana Tech 69-68 on the road in their last game and they did not give up after being down 10 after the first half outscoring Tech by 11 points in the 2nd half for the win. They shot 44.3% from the floor in the game and they not only held Tech to 40% shooting, but they got some key bucks off 2nd chances with 16 offensive boards. After a couple of games where Jeff Beverly went 2/11 form the floor he came up big in the Tech win going for 27 points on 11/21 shooting and he also grabbed eight boards. He was one of three starters that went for double figures in the game. Beverly and Nick Billingsley are the only players that are averaging in double figures for the Roadrunners, who were 0-9 on the road this season before beating LT in their last game.
The Florida Atlantic Owls are:
- 17-35 ATS in their last 52 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record
- 4-9 ATS in their last 13 vs. Conference USA.
- 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games following three or more consecutive home games
The UTSA Roadrunners are:
UTSA is the hotter team and undefeated at home and in this home game they will win and cover.
PICK: UTSA +26.5
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
