The Line: Bills -6
Well, in the Bills last game they lost to the Miami Dolphins in OT to quash their playoff hopes, but they can finish the season a decent .500 with a W in this game. They have lost three of their last four games and while the passing offense only ranks 31st in the league they had a big game in the air in the last game, but Pro Bowl RB LeSean McCoy is still the big gun in the backfield. In the 2nd game of the season at home the Bills lost to the Jets 37-31, so they may be looking for a little payback in this game.
The Jets season has been a terrible one and they have lost six of their last seven games including their last two. It looks as if the team has quit on head coach Todd Bowles, who may be coaching his last game for New York. The Jets’ offense ranks 3rd to last in the league in ppg and they gave Bryce Petty a chance for a tryout for the QB job, but he got hurt and it looks as if they will go back to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will likely be looking for another job next season.
Close, but no cigar
The Bills needed a home win in their last game to keep any playoff hopes alive, but they lost 34-31 in OT to the Miami Dolphins. This is even though they racked up 589 total yards and were solid in the air and on the ground, but they also gave up nearly 500 total yards. Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor had a great game against Miami passing for 329 yards with three TD and no INT and McCoy rushed for 128 yards averaging a legit 5.3 yards per carry, but the Bills still lost. They gave up many big plays to the Dolphins, but they may not have that issue this Sunday facing a New York offense that has failed to score more than 17 points in their last six games. The Bills have covered the spread in five of their last six games facing the Jets.
Buffalo will be coached by offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, after the Bills fired head coach Rex Ryan (and brother Rob) on Monday.
At least it is the last game
The Jets have to be happy the season is over, as they have been one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL this season. Their offense has struggled all season and in losing three of their last four games they have given up an average of 38.7 ppg. In their last game they were embarrassed losing to the New England Patriots 41-3 where they only had 239 yards of total offense and they turned the ball over four times. Fitzpatrick will likely take the helm under center and he did pass for 374 yards with a TD and no INT in the win over the Bills in the 2nd game of the season. Bilal Powell will get a load of carries in the backfield and if he struggles Fitzpatrick will have to carry the load, which is not good for New York.
The Buffalo Bills are:
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game
- 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games on fieldturf
The New York Jets are:
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall
The Jets are a mess and coming off a very bad loss and the Bills are hungry to get to .500 for the season. Add those things up and it is a Buffalo W and they will cover the spread as well even on the road.
PICK: Bills -6
The total for the first game between these teams this season went Over and that is the pick in this game as well. In Buffalo’s last 11 games the posted total has gone Over 10 times and in the last six games between them at the Jets in New York the total has gone Over five times. With the way the Jets have been playing D in their last few games you have to go with the Over.
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
