The Line: Titans -3
Well, the air sure got taken out of this game, as with the Titans loss in their last game to the Jaguars it will not be for the AFC South crown. The Texans won the division with the Tennessee loss and with their less than stellar 12-10 win over the Bengals in their last game. Houston is the 4th seed in the AFC and they will face the Chiefs, Raiders, or Miami depending what happens in their game. Tom Savage is still the QB, but the D will be key in this game, which really does not mean anything to Houston.
Oh what a disappointment for the Titans, who had their three-game win streak snapped in the loss to the Jaguars, which eliminated them from the playoffs. On top of that they lost starting QB Marcus Mariota to a broken leg and he is out for this game. Tennessee is just playing for pride in this game and with a W they can finish the season with a winning record.
Just enough to win
The Texans wrapped up the AFC South title with a 12-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in their last game where they were out-gained, but got the W scoring nine points in the 4th quarter. On D they played well stuffing the run and they had an INT. Savage passed for 176 yards with 0 TD and 0 INT and Alfred Blue was the lead rusher with 73 yards only averaging 3.5 yards per carry. With them having nothing to win in this game they will likely rest some key starters, but Savage will be under center to get him more reps in game time since he will probably start in the post-season. The Texans are 0-5 ATS in their last five games against the Titans in Tennessee.
Falling apart against the Jags
Most people, including me, though the hot Titans would run over the Jaguars to set up the big game against the Texans. However, Tennessee lost to Jacksonville 38-17 getting out-gained 415 yards to 263 yards and not only was Mariota lost for the season, but RB DeMarco Murray only rushed for 42 yards. Matt Cassel will get the start under center for this game and in the loss to Jax he passed for 124 yards with one TD and one INT. Earlier this season at Houston the Titans lost to the Texans 27-20. Unlike the Texans the Titans will play their main guys and the key match up in this game is Murray facing a Houston run D that ranks 13th in the league.
The Houston Texans are:
- 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall
- 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games
- 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record
The Tennessee Titans are:
I see Murray having a big game and while it does not mean anything the Titans will get the W and finish the season 9-7 and watch the playoffs from home, yet again.
PICK: Titans -3
The total has gone Over in four of the last five games between these teams and I look for that trend to continue. The Titans have nothing to lose so they will air it out and Murray will leave as solid game and with Savage getting time under center the Texans will also move the ball to get him more through-the-air game experience. The total is not set high and like the first meeting between these teams the Over is the pick.
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
