New York Giants (11-5) at Green Bay Packers (10-6)
Game Time: Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 4:40 pm (Lambeau Field)
Line: Green Bay Packers -4.5
The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers clash Sunday afternoon in an NFC Wild Card game Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field on FOX. The game features two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers for the Packers against Eli Manning for the Giants. The Giants are coming off an impressive road win over Washington, considering they had nothing to play for. The Packers beat Detroit on Sunday night from Ford Field to win the NFC North.
Eli Manning To The Rescue
The New York Giants have a truckload of momentum heading into the playoffs after winning nine of their last 11 games. The Giants haven’t won a playoff game since reaching the Super Bowl in 2011. Eli Manning is completing 63 percent of his passes for 4,027 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Manning has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last nine games.
Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard have combined for 2,050 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns while Victor Cruz has 39 receptions. The New York Giants ground game is averaging 88.3 yards per contest, and Rashad Jennings leads the way with 593 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, New York is allowing 17.8 points and 339.7 yards per game. Landon Collins leads the New York Giants with 125 tackles, Olivier Vernon has 8.5 sacks and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has six interceptions.
Winning Streak and NFC North Champs
The Green Bay Packers also enter the playoffs red hot after winning their last six games. The Green Bay Packers have made at least the divisional round in five of their last six playoff appearances.
Aaron Rodgers is completing 65.7 percent of his passes for 4,428 yards, 40 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rodgers has 11 touchdown passes in his last four games. Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams have combined for 2,254 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns while Randall Cobb has 60 receptions.
The Green Bay Packers ground game is averaging 106.3 yards per contest, and Ty Montgomery leads the way with 457 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Green Bay is allowing 24.3 points and 363.9 yards per game. Morgan Burnett leads the Green Bay Packers with 93 tackles, Nick Perry has 11 sacks and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has five interceptions.
New York Giants
- 9-0 ATS in their last 9 playoff road games
- 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Green Bay Packers
- Packers are 1-1-3 ATS in last 4 games at home against Giants
- Packers are 1-0-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
The Packers and Giants met early in October, and Green Bay won 23-16 after holding New York to just 221 yards of offense. The New York Giants are playing some incredible football right now thanks to a defense that has quickly become one of the best units in the league.
The Giants also have the wide receivers to give the Packers shaky secondary hell. Yes Rodgers has been on fire as of late as Manning has been a hit or miss, but the Giants play well against the Packers. They are also a excellent road team that covers the spread.
