Florida Panthers vs. New Jersey Devils, 01/09/17 - Prediction
Written by: Alex Alarcon
Florida Panthers (17-16-8) at New Jersey Devils (16-17-8)
Game Time: Monday, January 9, 2017 at 7:00 pm (Prudential Center)
Line: New Jersey Devils -114 / Florida Panthers -109
The Florida Panthers head to the Prudential Center to face the New Jersey Devils in a Monday NHL hockey contest.
The Florida Panthers have been in a bit of a slowdown the past few weeks and that trend continued in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Boston on Saturday night.
Neither end of the ice held up their end of the bargain and that left goalie James Reimer on his own and his 33 stops was not enough to prevent the Panthers from dropping six of eight.
The Bruins had no such problems with plenty of scoring coming from Brad Marchand who tallied twice with David Backes and Riley Nash also lighting the lamp while Tuukka Rask recorded 25 stops for shutout number five on the year.
A Risk Worth Going For?
I have learned a bet on the New Jersey is sometimes a high risk and sometimes futile wager so I seldom put money on a team that is near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Devils had a win within reach against visiting Edmonton but theu offense struggled to score in a 2-1, overtime defeat.
Corey Davis nearly saved the Devils with a monster 41 stops but Miles Wood was the only source of offense. Matthew Benning scored the Oilers goal in regulation before Mark Letstu scored with the man advantage at 3:59 of the extra session to make the 19 saves of Cam Talbot a winning effort while also lifting the team 6-1-2 in their last nine contests.
- Panthers are 5-0 in their last 5 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals.
- Panthers are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss of 3 or more goals.
New Jersey Devils
- Devils are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic.
- Devils are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.
- Devils are 1-6 in their last 7 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Devils are 1-6 in their last 7 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation.
Even though the Panthers have been in a small off and on for the most part of the season, the Devils have been a huge disappoint. Like I said, they are a risk that sometimes should never be though of.
I hope you love winning practically free money as much as I do. I'm a sports and analytical nerd that will give you the best picks for any game. I've worked on various websites in the sports handicapping industry along with years of covering NFL teams. Enjoy your win.
