Arrest Warrants Issued For DeAndre Baker and Quinton Dunbar

On Friday, the Miramar Police Department issued arrest warrants for New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar in connection to an armed robbery investigation.

According to the arrest warrants, Baker is wanted on four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. Dunbar is wanted on four counts of armed robbery with a firearm.

The incident that led to the warrants being issued occurred at a party on Wednesday night. According to the warrant, Baker and Dunbar are accused of stealing money and watches while armed with semi-automatic firearms. The warrant also states that Baker intentionally threatened to shoot victims with a firearm.

However, the warrant also has conflicting accounts from witnesses in regard to whether Dunbar was armed, with some witnesses saying they didn’t see him holding a gun.

"We have taped statements, sworn statements from each of the victims that were interviewed separately (four victims, one witness),” the MPD wrote in a statement. “The affidavit speaks for itself. If the victims have a different story to tell, they have not come to the Miramar police department and given any revised or different statements. If the victims have a different story to tell, they have not come to the police department to give it."

The 22-year-old Baker was a first-round pick of the Giants in 2019. The 27-year-old Dunbar was acquired by the Seahawks in a March trade with the Washington Redskins. The team introduced him to reporters on a video call earlier on Thursday before the warrant was issued.

During his introductory press conference, Dunbar told reporters: "You just want to feel wanted at the end of the day. ... I just hope to repay them with the way I carry myself as a person."

The Seahawks issued a statement after the arrest warrant for Dunbar was issued, saying that the team was "aware of the situation involving Quinton Dunbar and still gathering information. We will defer all further comment to league investigators and local authorities."

Even though he was flagged as a risky pick by two teams because of his attitude before the draft, the Giants traded up to select Baker with the 30th pick in the first round of last year's NFL draft. He struggled during his rookie season and was benched for effort and performance late in the season.

"We are aware of the situation. We have been in contact with DeAndre. We have no further comment at this time," the Giants said in a statement.
