Astralis and Ninjas in Pyjamas will face each other in the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Showdown. The BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Showdown is a ten-team online European tournament. The event has a prize pool of $182,500 and the top three teams will qualify for the BLAST European finals. The first-place team gets $37,500 in prize pool, but more importantly to some, it also contributes 800 BLAST Premier points.
Each group has five teams and they compete in the best of one matches. The teams receive three points for a win and one point for a tie. The top four teams from each group advance to the playoffs. The playoffs take place from June 5 -15th, 2020. The playoffs feature two single-elimination gauntlet. No grand finals match is played, but there will be a third-place match. The top three teams advance to the European finals.
Match Preview
Astralis is the best CS:GO team in the world but the Danish organization has made many changes to its roster. First Gla1ve left the team and now, Xyp9x has taken a break. While the two players left due to burnout, Astralis has been quick to add new players to its CS:GO roster. The team has not had enough time with its newer players to correctly judge their upcoming matches and the influence the roster change will have on the team’s results.
This is an advantage for the Ninjas in Pyjamas. The NiP roster has been steadily improving in performance, map pool and results. The Swedish roster lost 1-2 to Astralis in their last match. However, that match was against a stronger roster, which included the core of the Astralis roster.
Astralis has a new roster and the players do not have enough time and experience in playing together. Meanwhile, NiP’s roster is strong and has continued to impress with great team coordination. Since this is a best of one match and with Astralis’ relatively new roster, there is a good chance for NiP to upset Astralis.
