Fnatic and BOOM Esports will face each other in the ESL One: Birmingham 2020- Online SEA tournament. The two teams are still playing in the group stage and Dota2 bettors can expect some action-packed gameplay from the South East Asian teams.
The ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia tournament is a six team online tournament. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, ESL has had to move most of its esports tournaments to an online format. The ESL One Birmingham LAN event stands cancelled, instead teams will compete in regional online leagues. The South East Asian tournament has a $40,000 prize pool, with the winner receiving a significant chunk of money.
The tournament has a single-stage round robin format. The top two teams move to the upper bracket playoffs while the bottom two teams are eliminated. The third and fourth placed teams will move to the lower bracket of the playoffs.
Fnatic is one of the best Dota 2 teams in South East Asia. The team caused an uproar in the international scene when they brought an aggressive and relentless playstyle to their opponents. DJ is one of the best players with Tiny and can constantly pressurize opponents while providing a lot of space for his teammates.
BOOM Esports has risen to the occasion so far in the tournament. BOOM Esports is 2-0 and has lost just one game to Geek Fam. They have defeated top tier teams like Geek Fam and TNC Predator, cementing themselves as a dark horse in the tournament. On paper, Fnatic is the favorite, however, so far in the tournament, BOOM esports has been the team to beat.
Dota2 fans can expect BOOM Esports to continue its dominant form in the tournament. The team has the momentum and Fnatic is still struggling to find its playstyle in the current meta. Getting a free map with them almost feels like a for sure cash.
