Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 8/1/20
Race 4 - Maiden Special Weight (Purse -$47,000)
Seven male runners will go six furlongs in what is expected to be an excellent race.#1 Princely God has some ability in each of his two races this level and has led in each of those events. But the 4-year-old son of Poseidon’s Warrior has yet to finish, tiring in his debut and then being outkicked down the stretch to finish a close second in his last outing (June 7). #5 Easy Day is the fastest of the competitors in the field and while he has yet to race in 2020, the son of Daaher was pretty consistent in his two races last year -- finishing third and second. Samy Camacho, who has two wins and four top 3 finishes in his last six starts, gets the ride on Easy Day. #2 Sir Kahn, who will likely be among the top flight of racers, has run well the past three races -- nabbing third place in each event -- but has yet to finish. Sir Kahn does get a little relief in distance from his last race and has raced decently at this distance.#4 Defeatsnotanoption, the son of Honor Code, is making his debut and should be in the mix to get a piece of the action.
Picks: I will go with #1 to win. I also will put a show bet on #4. Additionally, I will go with a trifecta box bet of #1, #5, #4.
Race 9 - FTBOA Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes (Purse -$100,000)
10 2-year-old fillies will sprint six furlongs in what should be an outstanding stakes race. Only two of the competitors have experience at this distance. #10 Social Exclusion coasted to a four-and-one-half length victory in her debut at the special weight level on July 1. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo has won 36% of his stakes races with 2-year-old females this year while also cashing in on 45% of those 11 starts. I’m going with #9 Princess Secret who has run well in each of her first two races, which includes finishing a gamely second after bumping hard with a foe in a $60,000 optional claiming event.#8 Lyrical showed tremendous improvement in her second start where she ended up winning by over eight lengths after taking control of the event early despite bumping with a foe against $50,000-$40,000 maiden claimers.
Picks: I like an exacta box of #10, #9. I also like a show on #8. Additionally, I will put a win bet on the #10.
Race 10 - FTBOA Florida Sire Dr. Fager Stakes (Purse - $100,000)
12 2-year-old male runners will go six furlongs in this stakes event. Like Race 9, this race should be outstanding. #3 Gatsby returns to Gulfstream after finishing sixth in the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 27. Gatsby also has shown well during his last two training sessions. #2 Breeze On By eased to a six-length victory at this distance against special weight class. The son of Cajun Breeze also has trained well recently and will have Emisael Jaramillo on board once again. #9 Boca Boy is back at the track after winning his debut on July 17 by a couple of lengths on a sloppy track.
Picks: I like a #2, #3, #9 exacta box.
