Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 8/2/20
Race 4 - Allowance Optional Claiming $75,000 (Purse -$54,500)
Five 3-year-old fillies are slated to go one mile for this quality field. #1 Estillo Talentoso is looking for his eighth cash in eights starts this year. The Kentucky horse broke out of the gate in his last outing but was still able to remain competitive as he finished second in the $75,000 Azalea Stakes. Jockey Sammy Camacho has registered six top 3 finishes, including two wins, in his last 13 rides. #4 Drop A Hint has shown improvement in each of his last two outings, garnering a “piece of the pie” in those starts. The daughter of Into Mischief, who is taking a drop in class after being outkicked down the stretch and finishing third against $75,000 optional claimers, put up an astounding last workout of going three furlongs in 34.51 seconds. #5 Don’t Get Khozy is a heavily raced closer. The daughter of Khozan is in excellent form, although she saw her seven-race streak of finishing in the top 3 snapped as Don’t Get Khozy was fourth in the Azalea Stakes.
Picks: I like a win bet on the #1.
Race 6- Allowance Optional Claiming $25,000 (Purse -$47,000)
Eight male horses will go one mile in this fantastic event. #7 Tap the Mojo is also coming off a long break, having last raced back in February where he finished seventh against $35,000 optional claimers. The 5-year-old gelded son of Tap It, who has won 33% of his starts at this distance, has had a trio of impressive workouts recently. #3 New York Style is making his first since moving to trainer Happy Alter’s barn after being claimed following a third place in a one and one-sixteenth mile turf event against $40,000 - $30,000 claimers. The 4-year-old Kentucky colt has cashed in both of his 2020 races and in three of five starts on the dirt in his career. New York Style also has been training well. #8 Brasstown and #1 Krachenwagen are both coming off of strong performances and should be in contention to hit the board in this one. Brasstown followed an easy victory over $8,000 claimers by posting a career-best ESpeed of 112 while finishing a distant second versus $16,000 claimers in his first start under trainer Antonio Sano. Krachenwagen also posted a personal-best ESpeed (100) in his last outing as he finished two lengths behind Brasstown in the $16,000 event.
Picks: I like a win bet on the #7. I also like a show bet on the #3.
Race 9 - Opening Lead Stakes (Purse -$60,000)
Seven male runners will go six furlongs in this strong stakes field. #6 Diamond Oopps to lose. Diamond Oops is the classiest of the horses in the field, having won multiple grade 3 meets. The 5-year-old gelding, arguably the fastest of competitors, is coming off a strong 2020 as he finished second to Eye of a Jedi in a $55,000 handicap race. Luca Pacini is having one of his best seasons on the stakes tour of his career, winning 13% of those starts and finishing in the top-3 44% of the time. #1 Cool Arrow has been fantastic since returning from his most recent layoff, three starts back as he has posted an ESpeed of 102 -- marking just the third time that the 6-year-old gelding has topped the 100 ESpeed in back-to-back events. A son of Into Mischief, Cool Arrow runs well at this distance and is coming off a spectacular performance as he defeated $62,500 optional claimers by nearly four lengths. #4 Garter and Tie is coming off a much-improved performance in his last outing despite finishing outside the top-3 for the fifth straight race. The 4-year-old colt has run well at this distance and has finished in the money in 57.1% of his career stakes races.
Picks: I like a win bet on the #6. I also like an exacta box of #6, #1 as well as a show bet on the #1.
