Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 9/5/20

Race 3 - Claiming $16,000 - $14,000 (Purse -$28,000)

Six fillies and mares will sprint five and one-half furlongs in what should be a highly competitive affair. You got things working here with two runners -- #6 Nonsense and #1 Its Enough coming off long layoffs -- as well as #4 J’s Indian Charm being excellent at the distance and #5 Worth Avenue thriving at Gulfstream

J’s Indian Charm has not reached the podium in four straight starts but the six-year-old Florida mare is the fast pony in the field. J’s Indian Charm has earned four of her 10 wins at this distance and has cashed in 60% of starts at five and one-half furlongs.

Worth Avenue has thrived since being claimed by Barry Rose, recording two wins and two-second place finishes in six starts. The 6-year-old mare is stepping up in class after drawing off in the stretch for a nearly three-length victory. Worth Avenue owns a 25-5-8-3 record at Gulfstream, however, it is his first foray at this distance.

#3 Take Charge Mirella is racing for the third time after a three month layoff earlier this month. The 4-year-old filly took tremendous strides in her last outing as she wore down

Shall Return on her way to a nearly two-length victory.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #4. I also like a show bet on the #3.

Race 8 - Bear Den’s Stakes (Purse - $75,000)

Nine 3-year-old colt and geldings will go seven and one-half furlongs on the turf.

#1 Monforte was excellent in his first race off a long layoff in his last outing before grudgingly giving into the winner and finishing second in the one mile Not Surprising Stakes on Aug. 8 Monforte, who once again will have Edgar Prado on board, is extremely fast and has a 70% career WPS percentage. He thrives at Gulfstream as well as on the grass while having not finished worse than second since being moved to Rueben Garcia’s barn.

#7 Graceful Kitten has been on the stakes circuit the last five races and he ran into problems in each of her last three outings, which includes tiring while finishing sixth in the Not Surprising Stakes. The son of Kitten’s Joy has been training well and has two wins at the current distance as well as three victories in six attempts on the grass. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo gets the ride.

#3 Lure Him In, got an excellent draw, and has shown improvement in each of his last three outings -- winning the past two. This will also be the son of Khozan’s second start out of Robert Hess’ barn. He is 3-1-1-0 on the turf.

#5 Cadet Connelly has been fairly consistent in his past seven outings, finishing in the money five times, and is racing under trainer Maria Bowersock for the first time. Cadet Connelly has a 7-0-2-3 record on the grass.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #1. I also like a #1, #7, 3, #5 exacta box. In addition, I like a show bet on #3.

Race 10 - Miss Gracie Stakes (Purse - $75,000)

10 3-year-old fillies are slated to go seven and one-half furlongs on the turf.

#8 Fujairah has placed in multiple stakes races and showed well in the Grade 3 Forward Gal Stakes here at Gulfstream. Fujairah is 8-2-1-1 on the grass for her career.

#11 Lady Panda has been very inconsistent but she has shown improvement in each of her last two outings, rallying for second place the last time out in a one and one-sixteenth mile allowance race at Monmouth on Aug.15, The daughter of Animal Kingdom has finished in the money in seven of 11 starts.

#9 Meyerside is making her debut at the stakes level but she has fared pretty well in the allowance optional claiming division lately, nabbing two-seconds as well as win which came in her last outing on July 17.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #8, #11, #9.
