Free Picks For Parx -7/7/20

Race 7 - Maiden Special Weight ($34,000)

Nine PA registered 3-year-old fillies are slated to go seven furlongs. This race appears that it will come down to #5 Risque’s Jewel and #1 Rolls Royce Joyce. Rolls Royce Joyce, who will be starting from post #2, has shown improvement in each of her past three performances which includes posting a career-high ESpeed of 64 in her last outing on June 23. Rolls Royce Joyce has three cashes in five career starts. Risque’s Jewel is coming off a seventh-place finish, in her first start in three months, as she was unable to make any headway after going four-wide in the lane before weakening. Prior to the last start, Risque Jewel had recorded two start top 3 finishes. Trainer Randy Allen has decided to switch to Edwin Rivea in the saddle. 1A Ice Diamond, who is coupled with Rolls Royce Joyce, will come out of the nine-hole. Ice Diamond closed strong in a six-furlong race to record her first top 3 finish in three starts along with a career-high ESpeed of 70. -- it was also her first outing of 2020. #4 Quiet Please, like Rolls Royce Joyce, has shown improvement recently though she has finished behind Rolls Royce Joyce by multiple lengths in each of her last two outings. #3 Double Doink is another option to use in exotic bets, however, she has not raced since February. Double Doink has shown improvement in her workouts recently.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #5, #1. I also like a show bet on the #4. Additionally, I will use the 1A, 4, and 3 along with the 5, and 1 in a trifecta/superfecta bet.

Race 9 - Starter Allowance $25,000 (Purse - $26,000)

This one-mile and seventy-yard race that will have seven fillies and mares should be a spectacular event as there is not much separating the horses. With there not being much speed in the field, I will take the two fastest at the top of my ticket, #6 Shemakesmehappy and #3 Izzadora Bella. Shemakesmehappy has a 33% win rate (6 of 18) and placed in the top 3 in 66.7% of her starts, including five of six. The 5-year-old mare will stretch out in this one following a second-place finish while going one mile at Delaware Park with a game-effort after she showed some good early speed from post #2. Jockey Angel R. Rodriguez, who has a 20% win rate and a 47% WPS percentage, gets the ride on the class dropping Shemakesmehappy. Izzadora Bella is making her first start under trainer Kathleen Demasi, who claimed the 4-year-old filly following a sixth-place finish against $25,000 claimers on March 2. Izzadora Bella has won 25% of her starts at this distance and has scored a top 3 finish in all but four of her 17 career outings. #1 Mill and Gloria also have not raced since March where she finished ahead of Sweet Maggie May as well as Shemakesmehappy in a $25,000 claiming event going this distance. The 5-year-old runs well at this distance and has medaled in two straight races. #5 Sweet Maggie Mae has the most experience at this distance and should also be considered in exotic bets.

Picks: I will take a win bet on the #6. I also like an exacta box of #6, #3 as well as a trifecta box of #6, #3, #1, #4.

Race 10 - Starter Allowance $25,000 (Purse -$26,000)

This all-male six-furlong event has the making to be the race of the day. I believe #7 Admiral Abe is one of four horses who could win this event. The speedy 4-year-old gelding should be able to control the pace in this one. He is coming off a really short break, last racing on June 30, though Admiral Abe came up empty after easing off the pace in the early going. Admiral Abe picked up a win two starts back and owns a 25% win percentage at this distance. #2 Long May You Run took the lead in his last outing ($25,000 waiver claimer at Belmont Park) but weakened and ended up last in an eight field race that went six and one-half furlongs. However, the 9-year-old gelding won at this level and distance two starts ago and he has 12 victories at six-furlongs along with eight wins at Parx - both field highs. Plus, trainer Jaime Ness and jockey Angel R. Rodriguez have a successful working relationship with a 33% win percentage. #6 Jumpmaster returns to Parx, where he has three cashes in eight attempts there though none in the last five attempts and is dropping down in class after taking third in a $32,000 optional claiming event at Penn National. #3 Dancing Bull is on a two-race win streak and has been running well though he has not raced since November. On the plus side, Dancing Bull has trained well recently.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #7, #2, #6, #3. I also like a show bet on #7.
