Free Picks For Parx - 8/11/20

Race 7- Starter Optional Claiming $25,000 (Purse - $23,000)

Nine 3-year-old and upward male runners are slated to go six furlongs. There are several similar horses in this field that should make this a close race. But I am going with #8 Mr. Roundtree despite the fact that he has not raced since breaking his maiden at Penn National in February. The 4-year-old son of Mineshaft had been pretty consistent over his last three outings, even reaching the podium a couple of times here at Parx, and has trained well recently. #6 Irish Meadow should be primed for a better showing in his second of the year after weakening and finishing sixth in a six-furlong allowance race at Monmouth last month. The 5-year-old New Jersey gelding runs well at this distance and has gotten a few results recently at Parx. #1 Our Stormin Norman has been fairly consistent since the beginning of 2019, earning 10 results in 13 starts, and is coming off a third-place finish against $16,000 claimers at Belmont Park on July 11. Our Stormin Norman, who is making his debut at Parx, runs fairly well at this distance and is arguably the fastest pony in a field that doesn’t possess a lot of speed.

Picks: I will go with an exacta box of #8, #6, #1.

Race 8 - Allowance Optional Claiming $50,000 (Purse - $41,000)

Six 3-year-old colt and geldings will go six furlongs in what should be a very competitive race. #4 Inter Miami makes his first start outside of Florida where he earned three wins in seven career outings at Gulfstream Park and is coming off a three-length victory at this distance against $50,000-$40,000 claimers on June 12. The 3-year-old Florida colt also has run decently at this distance and he has earned all three of his victories in some sort of claiming events. #1 Ghost Game is also making his debut at Parx after previously running at Gulfstream and Churchill Downs though he has not raced since June 5. The 3-year-old Kentucky colt -- who has made just one start at the current distance (earning a win) -- gets a reprieve in that area after finishing third, despite a rough trip, going one mile against $40,0000 claimers at Churchill. While #2 Romanoff has not gotten any results in his last two starts, he is the fastest horse in the field and has run well recently. The 3-year-old Maryland gelding has faced tough competition recently, like in his last outing where he finished seventh against $35,000 claimers and is making his first start at Parx.

Picks: I will go with a win bet on #4. I also like an exacta bet of #4, #1, #2.

Race 11 - Allowance

10 3-year-old and upwards male horses are slated to go five and one-half furlongs. #1 Shanghai Superfly is coming off a well-run race, against $25,000 starters allowance, where he held off Septimus Severus by a neck at the wire while going this distance on a wet track (July 6). All four of the 4-year-old Kentucky colt’s victories have come here at Parx and he has cashed in six of his eight races at the Philly race track.#10 Lucky Hero will look for better performance in this event than his previous outing -- his first start in over four months -- where the 5-year-old Pennsylvania gelding showed some energy late but still finished nine-and-one-half lengths behind Shanghai Superly. Lucky Hero, making just his second start at this distance, is in pretty good form overall with two victories in his last three races and had a nice workout in his last training session. #5 Bojingle and #2 Ashrag should also be factors in the race.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #1. I also like a show bet on the #10.
