Free Picks For Parx - 8/25/20

Race 4- Maiden Claiming $10,000 (Purse -$17,000)

10 3-year-old-to-5-year-old fillies and mares will go seven furlongs on the dirt in what should be a very competitive race. #5 Leftatthealter, coming out of the six-hole, is the choice here as she is making her debut at Parx. The 3-year-old daughter of Broken Vow also returns to the dirt and cuts back in distance after once again coming up empty on the turf at Indiana Grand. Leftathealter has shown some good early speed in her previous races and is racing on the dirt for the second time ever with the other time being at Churchill Downs at the end of June. #6 Miss Antonella is making her third start following a layoff and returns from to Parx after two outings at Delaware Park, where she showed improvement from her previous outing the last time out. Miss Antonella has reached the podium in 50% of her dirt races and three of four starts at Parx. .#7 La Bella Chica and #1A Rosie Summer should also be factors in the race. La Bella Chica has recorded six top 3 finishes in nine outings at Parx while Rosie Summer has finished in the money in each of her last two starts.

Picks: I like a win be on the #5. I also like an exacta box of #5, #6, #7. I also like a show bet on the #6.

Race 7 - Maiden Claiming $40,000 (Purse - $30,00)

Eight 3-and-4-year-old fillies will go one mile on the dirt. This appears to be a two-horse race between #6 Magicallydelicious and #4 Congrats Answer. However, Congrats Answer is my choice here as she has raced well since coming off a long layoff. The daughter of Congrats is coming off a third-place finish at the special weight class the last time out and had a strong workout on Aug. 18, going three furlongs in 35.61 seconds. Magicallydelicious has also raced pretty well recently and the 3-year-old daughter of Poseidon’s Warrior has registered a top 3 finish in each of her three races following a three-month layoff. Magicallydelicious is also cutting back in distance, from going a mile in her last outing, where she placed second as a result of being impeded late in the race by the event’s winner. #1 Neon City, #5 Cousin Basil and #2 Isabellaalexia should also be a factor in the race. Isabellaalexia, who is making her first appearance in 2019 and debut at Parx, as well as Cousin Basil, who has not raced since February, are coming off long layoffs but both had a good last training session.

Picks: I like a win bet on #4. I also like a show bet on #5. In addition, I will box #4, #6 in an exacta bet.

Race 9 - Starter Allowance $25,000 (Purse - $27,000)

10 3-year-old and upwards gelding will go five furlongs on the turf.#8 Ruling is in the best form of his young career and is coming off of three straight “cashes” which includes a pair of wins. Two of those “cashes” came on the turf as the son of Maclean’s Music went wire-to-wire in a victory over $16,000 waiver maiden claimers on July 1 and then finished third in a $20,000- $16,000 on the grass (July 25). Expect jockey Ruben Silveria to get Ruling, who clearly is the fastest in the field, to the front of the pack quickly in what will be his Parx debut. #10 Where You Was returns to Parx for the first time in over a year and is making his second consecutive start on the grass, which is where he appears to be the best. The 5-year-old Pennsylvania gelding is coming off a victory at Penn National where he reeled in the leader at the wire after being behind him by five lengths heading into the stretch. Where You Was runs well at Parx and has an 11-3-0-4 record on the grass. #7 Smart and Tough, #9 Gilded Warrior and #3 Septimus Severus should battle for a spot at the bottom of the ticket.

Picks: I like a win be on the #8. I also like an exacta box of #8, #10.
