Free Picks For Saratoga - 8/26/20
Race 2 - Maiden Special Weight (Purse -62,000)
Six 3-year-old fillies will go six furlongs on the dirt in what should be a great race. #1 Munnings Muse was solid in her debut as she finished second, although the daughter of Munnings proved no match for the winner, in a five-furlong race after settling off the pace at the 3/16 pole two months ago at Belmont. Munnigs Muse, who will have Lasix for the first time, also has had some really good workouts since that outing for trainer Gary Gullo, who has a 17% strike rate with female runners this year. #5 Snicket has run a strong race in each of the last two outings and has cashed in three straight. The daughter of Lemon Drop Kid also has run well at this distance but is racing on the dirt for the first time since her debut back at Gulfstream Park in April.#3 Bankers Daughter is coming off her best race of 2020 as she came in second after a strong rally in a six-furlong event at Saratoga on July 25. Bankers Daughter, who is going this distance for the fifth time, has run decently at six furlongs and has reached the podium in 50% of her dirt races.
Picks: I like a win bet on the #1. I also like a show bet on the #3. I will also use #1, #3, #5 in an exacta box.
Race 3 - Allowance (Purse -$74,000)
Five 3-and-4-year-old fillies and mares will go one and three-eighths miles on the turf. #4 Cap de Creus appears to be the pony to beat. The 4-year-old daughter of Tapit, who is the fastest horse in the field, has run extremely well at this distance and has reached the podium in six of 11 turf events. Cap de Creus also finished in the money in 66.7% of her starts at Saratoga as well as 66.7% of their allowance races. #5 Setting The Mood has a five-pound advantage due to the allowance conditions and has run well in her two allowance races. The 3-year-old filly is coming off an impressive second-place finish in a one and one-fourth mile where she even led a short bit before being caught by Hungary Kitten in the stretch. Setting The Mood also has been training well for trainer Todd Pletcher. #1 Whatdoesasharksay is strictly a grass horse and has two third-place finishes in four career allowance races and is making her third start following a layoff.
Picks: I like a winning bet on the #4. I also like a show bet on the #5.
Race 4- Maiden Claiming $50,000 (Purse -$49,000)
Eight 2-year-old fillies, including two first-timers, will go six furlongs on the dirt. #8 Who Knows What is stretching out from five furlongs where she closed to finish third at the special weight class, just missing place by a neck, at Colonial Downs on Aug. 2. The daughter of Paynter is under the direction of trainer Michael Trombetta, who has an 18% strike rate and a 46% WPS percentage with 2-year-old females for his career. #6 Bold Article is entering the claiming class for the first time after finishing fifth at the special weight class at Gulfstream Park on July 23. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and jockey Tyler Gaffalione have a 34% strike rate when working together this year. #2 Dash To The Top, who was third at this level going five and one-half furlongs, here at Saratoga on July 31, and #3 Tiz Splendid News, who is making her debut, should be considered in exotic bets.
Picks: I like a winning bet on #8. I also like an exacta box of #8. I also like an exacta box of #8, #6, #3 as well as a show bet on the #3.
