Montreal Looks for Revenge at Home
Montreal enters Saturday at 7-1 and has responded to its overtime loss in Edmonton by winning five consecutive games. The Alouettes are coming off a 37-35 road victory against Ottawa and have established themselves as the team to beat through the first half of the CFL season. Montreal has been especially dangerous offensively, entering Week 10 ranked first in the CFL in net offense.
The Alouettes have received outstanding quarterback play this season. Davis Alexander enters with 2,788 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes while completing 71.7% of his attempts. Montreal has also developed one of the league's most dangerous groups of offensive weapons. The Alouettes have a 1,000-yard receiver through only eight games, another receiver approaching 800 yards and a running game that has produced 600 yards and six touchdowns from its leading back. That balance has helped Montreal consistently move the football without becoming dependent on one dimension of its offense.
Montreal's defense could be the more important part of this matchup. The Alouettes enter Saturday fourth in the CFL in net yards allowed, but the unit will be missing several contributors. Montreal needs to prevent Edmonton from repeating what happened in Week 3, when the Elks successfully attacked on the ground and eventually won in overtime. The Alouettes have the offensive firepower to win a shootout, but allowing Edmonton to control possession would make this game considerably more difficult.

I'm taking Edmonton +3.5. Montreal deserves to be favored at home with a 7-1 record and the CFL's most productive offense, but I don't see enough separation between these teams to want to lay more than a field goal.
Edmonton is 6-2 and is the only team that has beaten Montreal this season. The Elks won that first meeting 32-29 in overtime, and their quarterback play has arguably improved since then. Edmonton has also been one of the better defensive teams in the league and has consistently created turnovers. Montreal should have some success offensively, but its defensive injuries make laying 3.5 points uncomfortable. I expect another competitive game and will take the points with Edmonton.

I'm taking the Over 58 if that number is available. There are certainly arguments for the Under because Edmonton has played strong defense, but these offenses have enough explosiveness to push this game into the 60s.
