White Sox vs Tigers Prediction

The Detroit Tigers will host the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park, and we have you ready to go with the White Sox vs Tigers prediction.

Opening Pitch is slated for 1:40 PM Eastern, with the series split at one win apiece. Read on for the White Sox vs Tigers and more free MLB picks.

White Sox 6 Game Streak Snapped

After scoring seven runs in game one, Chicago was blanked in game two, finishing with just three hits. Chase Meidroth led the way with two hits, and he's hitting .262 on the season. The lineup struck out seven times along the way. Martin Perez got the start, and over four innings, he struck out none and allowed six runs.

RHP Davis Martin is slated to take the mound for the White Sox. This season, Martin has made 21 starts, compiling a 6–9 record with a 4.06 ERA over 122.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 89 batters against 41 walks, resulting in a 1.30 WHIP. The lefty has been much weaker on the road this season, allowing eight home runs in 11 contests. What's more, he's walked three or more batters in three of his last four starts.

On the road this season, Martin holds the following splits:

  • ERA: 4.57
  • Opponent Batting Average (OBA): .254
  • BB/K Ratio: approximately 0.60

Chicago enters this contest averaging 3.33 runs per game, which lands them in the bottom five in baseball. The White Sox also struggle with plate consistency, and their .201 batting average has them amongst the lowest in the league. They hit slightly better at home, but fewer than half of their extra-base hits come in front of their home crowd. On the plus side, they have been able to go yard at a high rate in night games.  The trouble for the offense begins with their plate discipline. The White Sox are walking at one of the lowest rates in baseball while striking out at one of the highest. That said, when Chicago can get runners in scoring position, they have done a solid job at sending them home.

Tigers Hold AL Central Top Spot

Detroit got to work early, scoring its first run in the bottom of the first. They did the bulk of their work in the 4th inning as they tallied five runs. The Tigers finished with six hits as Jahmai Jones led the way with two and a home run. Detroit struck out nine times in the contest. Tarik Skubal got the start, and over seven innings, he struck out six and allowed no runs on two hits.

RHP Charlie Morton is slated to take the mound for the Detroit Tigers in his next outing. This season, Morton has posted a 9–10 record, a 5.50 ERA, with 140 strikeouts and a 1.50 WHIP over 132.2 innings pitched. He's been a little volatile at home, but Morton has tossed well in daytime games as he's holding opponents to around .250 at the plate.

At home in 2025:

  • ERA: 5.23
  • Opponent Batting Average (OBA): .274
  • BB/K Ratio: 0.33

Detroit enters this contest averaging 4.97 runs per game, which lands them at 6th in the league. The Tigers are sitting in the top five in terms of overall batting average, and that number has climbed a bit when they are hitting in night games. Further, Detroit is still sitting in the top 10 in terms of home run rate, and they are sitting in the top half of the league when it comes to driving runners home in scoring position. Detroit has struggled with discipline at the plate, and they are striking out nearly 10 times per contest. They'll need to stand pat in the box here if they want to keep the top spot in the AL Central.

White Sox vs. Tigers Pick

Spread Pick for White Sox vs. Tigers

  • Detroit ML (4 Units)

The last two series between these two have been close affairs, and even with the stronger batting the White Sox have displayed on the road this season, they haven't been able to string together strong innings in this series. Martin has struggled at home, and his high walk rate gives pause, especially against a Tigers team that has managed to earn walks at a high rate. Morton has been hurling his best at home this season, and he'll continue that here. Take the Tigers on the money line.

Over/Under Pick for White Sox vs. Tigers

  • Under 8.5 (4 Units)

As mentioned, Morton has found his rhythm when throwing at home this season. Chicago has struggled at the plate this season, and the Tigers have struggled during daytime games. While the White Sox have done well to drive runners in, they still sit in the bottom 10 in runs per game, and their league-worst walk rate provides the inclination that they won't be hesitant to swing at anything of their liking.
