Bulldogs enter 2025 with an overturned roster
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are entering their fourth season under Talvin Hester as head men's basketball coach. He enters the 2025 season with a 57-40 overall record at Louisiana Tech, the only school where he's even been a head coach, and coming off a 20-12 season in 2024.
Three players appeared in all 32 games for the 2024-25 Bulldogs: forward Daniel Batcho, and guards Kaden Cooper and Amaree Abram. Of the three, only Cooper–who led the '24 squad with 7.8 rebounds per game–remains on the roster. Sean Newman Jr., who led the team with 33.4 minutes and 7.9 assists per game, is on the San Diego State Aztecs for the '25 season. Al Green, who averaged 24.7 minutes across 30 games for the Bulldogs a year ago, is now on the UNLV Rebels.
Among the new players on the roster are forward Sir Isaac Herron and guard Scooter Williams, both seniors. Williams spent 2024 on the 5-26 East Texas A&M Lions, averaging 24.5 minutes and 11.2 points per game. Herron started 22 games for Oral Roberts in 2023, averaging 18.9 minutes per game, before missing the '24 season due to injury.

Nevada retools in Alford's seventh year
Steve Alford is entering his seventh season leading the Nevada Wolf Pack and his 35th season as a college basketball head coach. He's posted a 699-371 (.653) record to this point, and he's coached Nevada to berths in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in two of the last three seasons.
On the court, the 2025 Wolf Pack are led by guard Kobe Sanders and forward Nick Davidson. Both played over 30 minutes per game and averaged 15.8 points, combining to account for 31.6 of the team's 72.3 points per game. Sanders was taken with the 50th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Clippers; Davidson is spending his senior season at Clemson. Junior guard Tyler Rolison returns after playing 23.6 minutes per game last season, averaging 7.4 points per game. Beyond him, there's little left from an older 2024 roster.
Tayshawn Comer came to Nevada after averaging 36.0 minutes and 16.2 points per game at Evansville last season. Corey Camper Jr. arrived after two years at UTEP, averaging 31.6 minutes and 10.5 points per game in 2024. Joel Armotrading came over after a year at Cal Poly and another at UC Riverside, where he made 31 starts and averaged 6.5 rebounds per game in 2024.
Louisiana Tech vs. Nevada Pick
Spread Pick for Louisiana Tech vs. Nevada
- Nevada -9.5 (-105) (4 Units)
Alford has coached at Nevada since the 2019-20 season, which he opened with a 79-74 home loss to Utah. The Wolf Pack are 5-0 in their first games since and 4-1 against the spread, only failing to cover as 19.5-point favorites in their 91-76 win over Eastern Washington in 2021. Neither team carries over much from last season's roster, but Alford has a longer track record at Nevada and a consistent pattern of early-season success.
Over/Under Pick for Louisiana Tech vs. Nevada
- Over 135.5 (-110) (4 Units)
The Team Total Over is 5-1 in the Wolf Pack's first games of the season over Alford's six years, only failing to his in the team's 62-48 win against North Dakota State in 2020. The line here of 135.5 isn't high–the Wolf Pack would've gone over in their 79-74 loss to Utah to open 2019, their 91-76 win against Eastern Washington to open 2021, their 84-71 win against Utah Tech to open 2022, their 77-63 win over Sacramento State to open 2023, and their 91-75 win over Sam Houston to open 2024.
