Nebraska vs Michigan Game Preview and Analysis

This is one of the rarest matchups you will see this deep into conference play, with an undefeated Nebraska squad facing a Michigan team that has lost just once. Michigan earned a gritty 49-46 road win in Lincoln last season, and while I am not expecting another rock fight like that, the defensive profile of this game still stands out.

Michigan’s defense has been elite across the board. The Wolverines rank No. 2 in defensive efficiency and No. 2 in effective field goal percentage allowed. They also lead the nation in two-point shooting percentage allowed and rank inside the top five in block rate. KenPom’s new metric measuring average two-point attempt distance shows Michigan forcing opponents to shoot nearly eight feet from the rim on average.

Nebraska will likely need to rely on three-point shooting to keep pace, but that task becomes much harder if Braden Frager is unable to go. Frager has missed the last two games and is considered doubtful. He is shooting 37.3 percent from deep this season and was coming off a 20-point performance before suffering an ankle injury.

Without Frager, Nebraska’s offense loses a major spacing piece. That puts even more pressure on outside shooting against a Michigan defense that excels at taking away clean looks inside the arc. Playing at the Crisler Center only amplifies that challenge.

Key Injuries and Notes (NEB and MICH)

  • Nebraska freshman Braden Frager is doubtful with an ankle injury.
  • Frager is shooting 37.3 percent from three-point range this season.
  • Michigan enters this matchup with no reported injuries.

Final Score Prediction

Michigan 80, Nebraska 67
