Clean breakdowns — NCAAB predictions for Robert Morris Colonials at Iowa Hawkeyes.
Colonials Looking to Start the Season Off Right
The Robert Morris Colonials are going to look a lot different on the court than the program that was able to win the Horizon League last season, as they are returning just three players this season. The team has nine transfers as they are led by Josh Hill from Arkansas State. Ryan Prather Jr. is the leading scorer who is returning to Robert Morris, as he finished with 8.3 points per game a year ago. Coach Andrew Toole is in his 16th season with the team and is looking to build off the 26-9 season, where they made an NCA Tournament appearance.
The Colonials were able to score the basketball at a good clip last season as they recorded 77.0 points per game (99th) while dishing out 16.1 assists (46th). Their defense was able to limit things as well as they gave up 71.0 points per game while also grabbing 37.3 total rebounds per game (89th).

Hawkeyes Under New Management
The Iowa Hawkeyes are looking for some improvement this season as they are a brand new roster with coach Ben McCollum taking over a 17-16 program last season. The key returning player is forward Cooper Koch, who was limited to 10 games and averaged 13.6 minutes last season. This roster is going to look a lot different than last year as he brought Tavion Banks, Kael Combs, Isaia Howard, Cam Manyawu, and Bennett Stirtz with him from the Drake Bulldogs. The team has a lot of new pieces, so it is going to be intriguing to see how they do as a group going forward.
The Hawkeyes had a lot of offense going throughout last season as they were 16th in the country with 82.5 points per game while being fifth with 18.3 assists per game. The defense was giving up points as well, with the program allowing 79.7 points while being one of the worst teams in the NCAA, as they grabbed 32.0 total rebounds per game.

Robert Morris Colonials at Iowa Hawkeyes Pick
Spread Pick for Robert Morris vs. Iowa
- Iowa Hawkeyes -19.5 (5 units)
Both teams are going to be looking a lot different than we last saw them on the court, and that will make things intriguing. However, there is a clear difference in the talent level between the Hawkeyes and the Colonials. This will be an interesting game for last year’s Horizon League Player of the Year, Alvaro Folgueiras, as he transferred to Iowa during the offseason and is immediately returning for a game inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Not only that, but Iowa has shown the ability to dominate as they have won 32 of their last 33 home games at night against nonconference opponents. All in all, go with the Iowa Hawkeyes to open the season with an ATS victory.
Over/Under Pick for Robert Morris Colonials at Iowa Hawkeyes
- Over 143.5 (5 units)
Two teams with completely different rosters means that there will be some issues regarding defensive assignments, so the offenses are going to be able to take advantage. Robert Morris and Iowa were able to score well last season, which indicates these coaches know how to draw plays up and make sure there are openings to take advantage of weaker defensive outputs. Folgueiras was able to shoot 41% from beyond the arc last season, and with both teams able to shoot well from beyond the arc, expect over 143.5 total points in this game.
