Air Force vs Nevada Picks and Prediction for Saturday September 26 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 09/20/2026, 04:00 PM ET

The Air Force Falcons visit the Nevada Wolf Pack at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 PM ET with national coverage on FS1. Both teams enter this Mountain West matchup at 1-1. Air Force has been idle since a 38-32 loss to North Dakota State on September 12, giving the Falcons an extra week to prepare for their first road game of the season. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Be sure to check out our free college football picks for more NCAAF predictions throughout the season.

Air Force Comes Off the Bye

Air Force opened its season by shutting out Duquesne 34-0 before losing 38-32 to North Dakota State. The Falcons therefore enter Reno having scored 66 points and allowed 38 through two games. Their first loss exposed defensive issues, but the offense still produced 32 points against a quality opponent.

The bye week is particularly interesting with Air Force because its offense requires precise timing and execution. Extra preparation time also gives the Falcons an opportunity to address the defensive problems that surfaced against North Dakota State. This is their first road test after opening with consecutive games at Falcon Stadium.

Air Force’s offensive identity also creates a preparation problem for Nevada. Defending the Falcons requires discipline throughout the front seven because one missed assignment can turn a modest rushing gain into an explosive play. If Air Force controls the line and stays ahead of the chains, it can dictate possession and shorten the game.

Nevada Gets a Conference Opponent at Mackay Stadium

Nevada is also 1-1 and enters an important early Mountain West matchup at home. The Wolf Pack’s season has been uneven enough that this game represents a significant measuring stick, particularly against an opponent whose offensive system can punish defensive mistakes.

The challenge is preventing Air Force from turning the contest into a possession game. Nevada needs to win first down defensively and force the Falcons into uncomfortable down-and-distance situations. Allowing four or five yards repeatedly on early downs would let Air Force control the clock and reduce Nevada’s offensive opportunities.

Nevada’s home-field advantage cannot be dismissed, particularly with Air Force playing away from Colorado Springs for the first time this season. The Wolf Pack should have opportunities, but they need to capitalize because extended empty possessions become especially damaging against the Falcons.

Air Force vs Nevada Picks and Prediction

Pick: Air Force Moneyline

The extra preparation time pushes me toward Air Force. The Falcons have had two weeks to correct the problems from the North Dakota State loss and prepare specifically for Nevada. Their offensive style also creates a difficult matchup for a team that has had limited preparation against it. Nevada’s home field keeps this competitive, but Air Force gets the outright edge.

Pick: Under 53.5 or Higher

Air Force’s 38-32 loss produced 70 points, but the preferred Falcons game script is considerably different. Air Force wants sustained rushing drives, clock movement and limited possessions. If the Falcons establish that style on the road, the number of total possessions should decline. At 53.5 or higher, there is enough cushion to play the under.

Final Picks: Air Force Moneyline and Under 53.5 or Higher
