Bulls Looking to Control the Game

The Buffalo Bulls’ season has gotten off to a respectable level as they are coming off a 45-6 home win over the St. Francis Red Flash in their most recent game. Quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson had a rough game as he was able to complete 10-of-20 passes for 133 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception, but dominated on the ground as he had nine rushes for 88 yards (9.8 yards per carry) with a pair of touchdown rushes. The Bulls were able to run the ball extremely effectively as the program ran for 5.9 yards per attempt throughout the game.

The Red Flash were not able to get much offense going against them as they recorded just seven total first downs throughout the game. Defensively, Buffalo was outstanding as they allowed six points on 126 total yards. The team also forced a turnover, but lost the turnover battle 2-1.

Golden Flashes Looking to Bounce Back

The Kent State Golden Flashes struggled in their most recent game as they lost on the road to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 62-14. Quarterback Dru DeShields had a mediocre game as he completed 7-of-15 passes for 116 yards and a passing touchdown.

While the running game not being able to do much, the passing game led the way. Wide receiver Ardell Banks led the way for Kent State as he recorded a pair of receptions for 49 yards (24.5 yards per catch) but was not able to find the end zone. He helped move the ball down the field as no receiver had more than two catches on the day.

Kent State’s defense did a brutal job as they allowed Texas Tech to record 27 first downs throughout the 60 minutes. Their best ability was the fact that they committed just four penalties for 36 yards. The Golden Flashes were just completely overwhelmed and need to shake off that performance.

Buffalo Bulls vs. Kent State Golden Flashes Pick

Spread Pick for Buffalo Bulls vs. Kent State Golden Flashes

  • Buffalo Bulls -22.5 (4 units)

The Buffalo Bulls have looked like a better team to begin the season. They are 2-0 ATS compared to Kent State being 1-1 ATS right now. The Bulls also are playing defense at a significantly better level thus far. Kent State is 123rd in college football with 470.5 total yards allowed per game, which means Buffalo should be able to march down the field with ease. The Bulls also have linebacker Red Murdock, who has posted 22 total tackles in just his first two games of the season and is looking to be an impactful player. All in all, go with the Buffalo Bulls to cover the large spread.

Over/Under Pick for Buffalo Bulls vs. Kent State Golden Flashes

  • Under 48.5 (4 units)

These teams are not really showcasing the ability to score the football effectively on a consistent enough basis. This Kent State defense is better than what it looked like last week against a ranked program, while Buffalo has done well on that side of the ball, allowing 14.5 points per game thus far. Neither team is averaging more than 187.0 passing yards per game, meaning the deep passes are something that we need to worry abou,t and instead, drives are going to be more lengthy to march down the field. Go with under 48.5 total points as the better bet here.
