Charlotte Unable To Find Wins
The 49ers are coming off a loss last week to USF with a final score of 54-26. This is the fourth loss of the season for Charlotte, as they have yet to grab a win this season against a non-subdivision team. The 49ers will also be looking to grab their first road win of the season as they have yet to grab a win on the road in their 2025 campaign.
The 49ers are severely struggling on defense, ranking 119th in points allowed this season and 122nd in total yards allowed. The problem with their defense has been their inability to stop drives consistently, as their opposition can reliably get first downs against them. Charlotte is 127th in the country in first downs allowed and has been especially struggling against the run game, in which they rank 124th in rushing yards allowed per carry at 5.1.
While the defense has struggled, the offense for Charlotte has had some promise, especially in their pass game, in which they sit 72nd in passing yards. The team has relied heavily on their pass game due to their run game being non-existent, averaging only 2.9 yards per carry (131st). Junior quarterback Conner Harrell has attempted to counterbalance his teamβs poor defense to no avail. Harrell is averaging 184.3 yards per game and is averaging a touchdown per game across his four games played thus far. Unfortunately, Harrell will be out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, and Sophomore Grayson Loftis will attempt to fill in the shoes as the starting quarterback for Charlotte.

Army Looks To Continue Momentum
Army picked up a huge win last week against UAB with a final score of 31-13. This would be their second win of the season but the Black Knights will be looking to find their first home win of the season on Saturday against the 49ers.
Army remains as the top team in the country when it comes to the run game, ranking fifth overall in rushing yards and leads the league in rushing attempts. Army relies heavily on its run game as their style of play tends to avoid the pass game. The key to their offense has been their two quarterbacks, Senior Dewayne Coleman and Junior Cale Hellums. Hellums and Coleman lead the team in rushing yards, having a combined average of 129.5 rushing yards per game. With their quarterback-heavy run triple option, we have seen this have plenty of success against teams unable to stop the run game. However, once Army faces off against teams with decent defense at the line, the Black Knights tend to struggle to find wins.
While the defense has not stood out, Army has done a great job at stopping the opposition from generating passing yards. Army is 55th in passing yards allowed this season and 67th in yards per reception at 7.0. The Black Knights however, have not been able to capitalize on the success of their pass defense due to their offense's unable to generate points. Army has a huge issue in which teams know they are going to run the ball and have to plan accordingly. Not many teams in the league have as easy-to-read playbooks as Armyβs.

Charlotte versus Army Picks and Predictions
Spread Pick For Charlotte versus Army
- Army -17.5 (-110) ( 4 units)Β
One of Charlotteβs largest weaknesses this season has been their run defense which is allowing an average of 6.2 yards per carry. This is going to be a huge issue as they go up against one of the top running teams in the country. The 49ers would have to rely on their offense to counterbalance their poor defense but given their injuries and that Army does well against the pass game, I do not expect much offense to be generated from Charlotte, leading us to a one-sided game.
Over/Under Pick For Charlotte versus Army
- Over 47.5 (-110) (4 units)Β
Army was 8-4 Over as a favorite last season. Charlotte last season had an over/under record of 9-4-0 in games where they were on the road and an underdog. Charlotte is struggling to generate points but their defense has been unable to stop the opposition and as a resulted lead to these one-sided games where the opposing team carries most of the total. Army should be able to carry this total alone as their run game takes advantage of the struggling run defense of the 49ers.
