The Tigers (2-3 SU, 1-4 ATS) were 38-10 winners at North Carolina last weekend as -14 favorites. The Eagles (1-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) were beat up at Pitt, 48-7, as +6.5 underdogs last weekend. Kickoff from Alumni Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 EST and make sure to try all of our NCAAF Betting Picks.

Clemson trying to reestablish themselves

The Tigers halted a two-game losing streak by going into Chapel Hill and putting a beating on the Tar Heels for their first ACC win of the season. Clemson’s offense scored 28 first-quarter points and finished with 488 total yards and 23 first downs. On defense, the Tigers kept UNC scoreless in two quarters and allowed 270 yards in the win.

Clemson has the third-worst scoring offense in the ACC, averaging 23.4 points per game. In the yardage department, they average 389.8 total yards, and they rank eighth in the ACC with 279 passing yards per game. • Randall is one of two FBS players with at least 350 rushing yards and three-or-more receiving touchdowns.
  • T.J. Parker is 11th on the Clemson All-Time Sacks list with 18.5 in his career.

Boston College caught in a slide

The Eagles won their season opener by 56 points, then proceeded to lose every game since, including their first three versus ACC opponents. Their seven-point effort versus Pitt was their worst offensive performance of the season. They managed to gain only 216 yards and had just 11 first downs. Defensively, they allowed 503 yards and 31 first downs.

Thanks to their season opener, they are averaging 31.4 points of offense each week, 10th in the ACC. They average 398.4 yards per game, with 313.4 coming by way of the pass, the second-best mark in the ACC. Dylan Lonergan had an abysmal game versus Pitt, passing for a career-low 89 yards. The sophomore QB has 1,277 passing yards, 9 TDs and 3 INTs this season, with one rushing touchdown. Lewis Bond leads the ACC and is tied for seventh in the nation with 38 receptions. He has 366 receiving yards and zero touchdowns. B.C.’s rushing game is producing 85 yards per game, the worst mark in the ACC. Turbo Richard leads the team with 331 rushing yards and 4 TDs.

Boston College has the worst scoring defense in the ACC, allowing 31.6 points per game, the 18th highest in the nation. They are 11th in the conference, allowing 364.4 total yards per game. They’ve done a decent job against the pass, where they are ninth in the conference, allowing 230.8 yards per game. Versus the run, they’ve allowed 133.5 yards per game. The Eagles have seven sacks and four interceptions. KP Price has a team-high 36 tackles and Omar Thornton is second with 31 tackles, to go with a sack and two forced fumbles. Sedarius McDowell leads the team with four sacks.

Game notes

  • Lonergan ranks seventh in the country, averaging 24 completions per game.
  • Bond is 38 receptions shy of breaking Zay Flowers’ all-time reception record at B.C.
  • Team ranks third in the ACC with 4.2 tackles for loss per game.
  • On punt returns, they are allowing an average of 1.8 yards, the 20th-best mark in the nation.

Clemson vs. Boston College Picks

Spread Pick for Clemson vs. Boston College

  • Clemson -14.5 (4 units)

This is the 33rd meeting between the schools and Clemson owns a 21-9-2 SU advantage, including wins in 12 straight meetings. Clemson being able to beat North Carolina by 28 points is a good indicator for this matchup. Though it hasn’t been put to the test, Boston College is probably a bit weaker than the Tar Heels even, so as long as the Tigers keep their wits about them, this is their game to have how they want it. Clemson should be able to choose their adventure against the B.C. defense, which is extremely porous. The Tigers went 3-2 ATS in their last five games versus the Eagles. It’s going to be a nice fall evening in Massachusetts and under the lights, Clemson is more prone to shining.

Take the Tigers giving the points.

Over/Under Pick for Clemson vs. Boston College

  • Under 55 (4 units)

These two teams met last in 2022 and combined to score 34 points, with Clemson handling the bulk of the load with 31. I am expecting a similar story here, where the Tigers carry the day on the scoreboard and the Eagles struggle to get going. Pitt provided Clemson with a blueprint on how to bury the Eagles and I expect a bit of last week’s disappointment to linger for the hosts. Clemson’s offense only really got going last weekend. Otherwise, they’ve scored 21 points or less in three of their other four games, with 27 points in the other. Even if they do get scoring early, I would expect them to turn to the run in the second half to grind things out. The under is 6-4 in the last ten games between the teams

Take the under.
