Florida and Georgia meet in Atlanta on Saturday, with both teams coming off very different results. The No. 17 Gators beat Texas 27-24, improving to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the SEC, where they sit fourth. No. 3 Georgia is 6-1, second in the conference at 4-1, after losing 27-24 to Auburn. Kickoff is at 3:30 pm ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium on ABC. Georgia is favored by 11.5 points, with the total at 55.5. Check our free NCAAF picks for more Saturday games.

Florida Looking to Build on Texas Win

Florida's victory in Austin came at a good time. The Gators had lost two straight, falling 38-19 to South Carolina and 45-17 at Missouri. Beating Texas 27-24 gave them something positive heading into the Georgia matchup. Florida has been involved in several high-scoring games, including a 52-28 victory over Ole Miss and a 44-39 win at Auburn. The Gators can put points on the board, although keeping opponents out of the end zone has been another matter.

Jadan Baugh has been difficult to contain, rushing for 763 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 5.7 yards per carry give Florida a strong option when the passing game stalls. Aaron Philo has completed 70.5% of his throws for 1,341 yards, with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. However, he's questionable for Saturday. Dallas Wilson leads the receivers with 403 yards, while Myles Graham has recorded 48 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Philo's availability could make a considerable difference against Georgia's defense.

Injuries: Aaron Philo and Vernell Brown III are questionable. D. Groce and K. Jimenez are out.

Georgia Looking to Recover Against Florida

Georgia's first loss came against Auburn on October 17, and it was a close one. The Bulldogs fell 27-24 after winning their previous four games, including a 20-17 victory at Alabama. Georgia had also beaten Vanderbilt 38-14, Oklahoma 41-13 and Arkansas 45-17. The Auburn result was a reminder that the Bulldogs aren't unbeatable, especially when the score stays close late. Florida has already beaten Texas and Auburn this season, so Georgia knows Saturday won't necessarily be straightforward despite being ranked No. 3.

Gunner Stockton has been accurate this season, completing 74.1% of his throws for 1,570 yards. He's thrown 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. Georgia hasn't relied on one running back, either. Dwight Phillips Jr. has 348 rushing yards from only 47 carries, while Nate Frazier has scored five touchdowns on the ground. Craig Dandridge leads the receivers with 310 yards. Defensively, Raylen Wilson has been busy, making 44 tackles and recording four sacks. Georgia has 22 sacks as a team.

Injuries: Isiah Canion and D. Dowdell are out. Thomas Blackshear is questionable.

Key To The Game

Florida needs Baugh to keep producing against Georgia's defensive front. Thirteen rushing touchdowns through seven games is an impressive return, but the Bulldogs have players capable of disrupting the backfield. Philo's questionable status adds another concern for Florida. Georgia has a more settled quarterback in Stockton, and its rushing depth could create problems as the game develops. The Gators have allowed 45 and 38 points in two recent defeats. They cannot afford another afternoon like those against a Georgia offense with multiple scoring options.

Florida vs Georgia Game Pick

  • Florida Gators +11.5

Georgia deserves to be favored, but I'm not convinced the Bulldogs will win by two touchdowns. Florida has already beaten Texas on the road and put 44 points on Auburn earlier this season. Baugh gives the Gators a dependable rushing threat, although Philo's availability remains important. Georgia has more depth offensively and should create opportunities through Stockton. Still, the Bulldogs needed a late push to beat Alabama and then lost a close one to Auburn. I expect Florida to compete for much of Saturday's game, making the 11.5 points attractive.

Florida vs Georgia Over/Under Pick

  • Over 55.5

Florida's games against Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri and South Carolina all finished above 55.5 points. The Gators have scored at least 27 in three of their last five outings, largely thanks to Baugh and their rushing attack. Georgia has reached 38 points in three of its previous five games, with Stockton throwing 16 touchdowns this season. Both defenses have talent, but Florida's recent results suggest plenty of scoring opportunities. Georgia should contribute a considerable share, and I expect Florida to find the end zone enough to push the total over 55.5.
