The Fordham Rams travel to Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina, to face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Saturday, September 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET on ESPN+. Fordham enters at 0-2 after being shut out 38-0 at North Dakota State, while Coastal Carolina is 0-1 following a competitive 31-24 loss at West Virginia. Fordham Faces Another Difficult Road Assignment

Fordham's season has started with consecutive losses, falling 24-14 to Colgate before running into FCS powerhouse North Dakota State and losing 38-0 in Fargo. The Rams now face their first FBS opponent of the season and their second consecutive difficult road assignment.

Fordham struggled to create anything consistently against North Dakota State. Axel Battaglino caught five passes for 44 yards, while DJ Gordon IV added three receptions for 27 yards. The Rams were unable to finish drives and were held scoreless after managing only 14 points in the opener.

The most troubling aspect entering this matchup is Fordham's lack of scoring. The Rams have produced only 14 points through eight quarters and now step up to face an FBS defense. Fordham needs to establish the run and avoid repeatedly putting its offense in obvious passing situations if it wants to stay competitive.

Coastal Carolina Shows Fight in Morgantown

Coastal Carolina didn't get the result it wanted at West Virginia, but the Chanticleers showed plenty of fight in their 31-24 defeat. Coastal fell behind 28-10 before mounting a second-half comeback that brought the Chanticleers within one possession.

Samari Collier provided a major spark for the offense, throwing a touchdown pass and producing plays with his legs. Coastal Carolina generated enough offense after halftime to put legitimate pressure on West Virginia before ultimately running out of time.

The performance matters entering this matchup because Coastal now receives a major reduction in competition. The Chanticleers went on the road and scored 24 points against a Big 12 opponent. They now return to Brooks Stadium for their home opener against a Fordham team that has scored only 14 points through two games.

Fordham vs Coastal Carolina Picks and Prediction

Pick: Coastal Carolina -21.5 or Better

With no dependable conventional sportsbook spread available yet, Coastal Carolina -21.5 or better is my target. Fordham has already been shut out by North Dakota State and has struggled to consistently move the football through two games. Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, just showed it can generate offense against West Virginia and now gets a substantial reduction in competition for its home opener. The Chanticleers should control the game at the line of scrimmage and gradually create separation. Take Coastal Carolina if the spread opens at -21.5 or better.

Pick: Under 52.5

The Under 52.5 is my preferred total target. Fordham's contribution is the major concern for anyone considering the Over. The Rams have scored 14 points through two games and are coming off a shutout. Coastal Carolina could reach the upper 30s or low 40s and still leave this game below the number. A result around 38-7 or 41-7 fits the matchup. Take the Under if the total is set at 52.5 or higher.

Final Picks: Coastal Carolina -21.5 or better and Under 52.5 or higher
