Georgia vs Tennessee prediction

The Tennessee Volunteers will host the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 3 of the 2025 college football season, and we'll preview the lines and odds in our Georgia vs. Tennessee prediction. Both teams are 2-0 after dominant, if uneventful, openers to their seasons; this game will be the first of either team's season where the spread is fewer than ten points. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM ET on Saturday, September 13.

Can Georgia Start Faster in Week 3?

The Georgia Bulldogs are 2-0 to open the season and No. 6 in the AP Top 25, yet they've left fans and onlookers underwhelmed with their on-field performance through two weeks. They've won two home games against Marshall (45-7) and Austin Peay (28-6), covering the spread in neither. They're two spots down in the poll from last week despite the win over the Governors; voters were unimpressed with the Bulldogs' slow, low-scoring win that saw them commit more turnovers and as many penalties as a team they were favored to beat by 46.5 points.

Gunnar Stockton, a junior quarterback in his third season at Georgia, has been efficient through two games in 2025. He's completed 40 of 58 passes for 417 yards and two touchdowns – good for a 69.0 completion percentage and 7.2 yards per attempt – without throwing an interception or taking a sack. The team's made their hay on the ground, however–Stockton is one of four Bulldogs with at least ten carries and a rushing touchdown to their name this season. Sophomore back Nate Frazier leads the unit with 116 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries; sophomore Dwight Phillips Jr. went for 60 and a touchdown on five carries against Marshall, while freshman Chauncey Bowens ran for 56 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries against Austin Peay.

Georgia will play their first road game of the season on Saturday, when they open their SEC schedule against No. 15 Tennessee. The Bulldogs currently hold a nine-game win streak over the Volunteers, but there's a real chance that'll end if they're slow out of the gate.

Will Tennessee End Losing Streak Against UGA?

The Tennessee Volunteers have taken care of business to open the 2025 season, beating Syracuse (45-26) and East Tennessee State (72-17) at home by more than enough to cover both spreads. They'll host Georgia on Saturday–a team they've played annually but haven't beaten since 2016. Can the Vols end that streak and make a statement in their first conference game of the season?

Senior quarterback Joey Aguilar has been extremely effective in his first season in Knoxville, completing 39 of 59 passes for 535 yards and five touchdowns – without a sack or interception – across the team's first two games. He's flanked by senior back Star Thomas, who's run for 161 yards and three touchdowns across 24 carries. Junior receiver Chris Brazzell II sits atop the Vols' receiving corps after hauling in nine catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns against ETSU. As a unit, the Tennessee offense racked up 734 yards and 41 first downs in their demolition of East Tennessee State. They enter Week 3 as the second-highest ranking unit in yards per game (605.0) among Division I teams, trailing only the USC Trojans.

Georgia vs Tennessee Pick

Spread Pick for Georgia vs Tennessee

  • Tennessee +3.5 (-110) (4 Units)

The Volunteers have covered the spread in each of their first two games, dominating lower-ranked opponents rather than backing into victories. They're a +3.5 underdog at home–the same spread they faced before their 34-31 win over the Bulldogs in 2016. Georgia has nine straight wins against Tennessee and entered 2025 with higher projections from the AP, but the Vols have been roundly better in the two weeks since the season kicked off. I'd take them to win here; I'd certainly take them to cover.

Over/Under Pick for Top Team vs Bottom Team

  • Over 49.5 (-110) (4 Units)

Georgia and Tennessee both figure to struggle more with scoring in Saturday's game than they did in their first two contests, but that hardly means the total points will crater to below 50. Georgia combined to score 73 points against Marshall and Austin Peay; Tennessee combined to score 117 against Syracuse and ETSU. In the last ten matchups these teams have played since 2015, every game has seen at least 40 total points scored–despite Tennessee only topping 20 points once in the last eight meetings. If they take care of business here, we should see enough points scored to hit the over.
