The Grambling State Tigers travel to Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, to face the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, September 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on ESPN+. TCU enters at 0-1 following a disappointing 15-10 loss to North Carolina in Dublin, while Grambling steps into one of the most difficult nonconference assignments on its schedule. Grambling Faces a Significant Step Up

Grambling enters Fort Worth facing a TCU team that has had two full weeks to think about its disappointing season-opening performance. That creates an especially difficult situation for an FCS visitor trying to compete against a Big 12 roster on its home field.

The Tigers will need to avoid turnovers and negative plays while finding some way to prevent TCU from establishing its rushing attack. North Carolina showed that the Horned Frogs can become frustrated when forced to repeatedly execute long drives, so Grambling's best chance of remaining competitive is limiting explosive plays and making TCU earn everything.

Depth becomes the larger concern. Grambling can potentially compete early, but the physical difference between an FCS roster and a Big 12 roster becomes increasingly important as the game progresses.

The Tigers also need to create scoring opportunities because TCU's opening performance suggests this isn't necessarily an opponent that will immediately turn every possession into points.

TCU Has Two Weeks to Fix Its Offense

TCU's season began with one of Week 0's bigger disappointments. The Horned Frogs lost 15-10 to North Carolina in Dublin despite entering the game as a substantial favorite.

TCU scored 10 points on its first two possessions and then didn't score again. Jaden Craig completed 20 of 32 passes for 175 yards without a touchdown or interception, while the Horned Frogs finished with only 281 total yards.

The brightest offensive performance came from Jeremy Payne, who rushed for 142 yards on 25 carries. TCU averaged better than four yards per rushing attempt but couldn't consistently convert that production into points.

Discipline also hurt the Horned Frogs. TCU was charged with nearly 90 penalty yards, and those mistakes repeatedly made an already struggling offense's job more difficult.

The good news is that Sonny Dykes has had two weeks to address those problems. TCU was idle after returning from Ireland and now gets its home opener against an FCS opponent. This is exactly the kind of matchup in which the Horned Frogs should emphasize cleaner execution rather than simply trying to manufacture a huge score.

Grambling vs TCU Picks and Prediction

Pick: Grambling +35.5 or Better

With no dependable conventional sportsbook spread available, Grambling +35.5 or better is my target. TCU possesses an enormous talent advantage and should win comfortably, but the Horned Frogs just scored 10 points against North Carolina and haven't yet demonstrated the offensive efficiency needed to confidently lay five or six touchdowns. TCU may also become conservative once the outcome is decided. If sportsbooks hang more than five touchdowns, I'll take the points with Grambling +35.5 or better.

Pick: Under 52.5

The Under 52.5 is my preferred total target. TCU's opener produced only 25 combined points, and the Horned Frogs went scoreless over the final three quarters. Grambling may struggle to contribute enough scoring to force TCU into an aggressive second-half approach. A comfortable result around 38-7 or 41-7 would still remain underneath this target. Take the Under if the total is set at 52.5 or higher.

Final Picks: Grambling +35.5 or better and Under 52.5 or higher
