The Huskies responded with an 88-0 demolition of Arkansas Baptist and then took Incarnate Word to overtime before losing 30-23. At 2-2, Houston Christian has alternated between dominant performances and difficult road assignments.

Houston Christian trailed 20-10 at halftime but fought back to take a 23-20 fourth-quarter lead before Incarnate Word tied the game and eventually won in overtime. The biggest issue is whether Houston Christian can withstand North Texas’ offensive tempo and explosiveness. The Huskies cannot afford a repeat of their offensive performance at Rice, when they managed only three points. Sustaining drives and preventing North Texas from accumulating possessions will be essential if HCU is going to remain within a large spread.

North Texas’ latest game produced 84 points, and the Mean Green have demonstrated that their offense can score even when the defense struggles. Houston Christian just scored 23 against Incarnate Word and previously put 34 on Southeastern Louisiana. North Texas could reach the forties here, which would leave HCU needing only modest offensive production to push the game over a number in the upper fifties.
