Can Kentucky cause a major upset in the SEC?
This season has been an up-and-down one for the Kentucky Wildcats to this point, but after a tough stretch, they've won three straight games coming into this one while they sit at 1-3 away from home overall in 2025. This season, the Wildcats have struck a nice balance between offense and defense, ranking top-100 in total yards and yards allowed, and with the defense holding opponents to just 23 points a game, they've fared well against unranked opponents, although they have gone 0-3 against ranked opponents thus far.
The success in Kentucky comes on the back of talented running back Seth McGowan, who has 12 rushing Touchdowns on the year, and while QB Cutter Boley has thrown 13 of his own, with eight interceptions, the run game has been much more reliable for them in 2025. Last time out for the Wildcats was a massive win over Tennessee Tech, with 207 yards and five scores on the ground leading the way as they held their opponents to just 264 yards, coming away winners 42-10 in the process.
Key Injury Report for Kentucky:
- DL K. Saunders (undisclosed) is ? Has 24 tackles, 1.5 sacks
- LB A. Afari Jr. (undisclosed) is ? Has 2.5 sacks and 49 tackles.

Can Vandy keep climbing the rankings?
The Vanderbilt Commodores have been steadily building momentum for much of their 2025 season, and with a perfect 6-0 record on the road and a 4-2 mark in SEC play, they find themselves right in the mix at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings. Offensively, Vanderbilt averages seven yards per play, good for fifth in the NCAA along with an impressive 38 points a night, and with the defense holding opponents to 22 points a game this season, it's easy to see why they've been so dominant to this point.
Balance is the name of the game for the Commodores, as QB Diego Pavia has thrown for 21 touchdowns to just five interceptions, and on the ground, they've totalled a ridiculous 28 scores, with five different players having multiple rushing TD's on the season. Pavia leads the Commodores with 613 yards rushing and seven TDs.Last time out for Vanderbilt was a high-scoring win over the Auburn Tigers, with a total of four scores to Pavia leading the way as they came away winners 45-38 despite giving up over 560 yards on the day.
Kentucky Wildcats vs. Vanderbilt Commodores picks
Moneyline pick for Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt
- Vanderbilt -9.5 (5 units)
After coming away victorious in the head-to-head matchup between these two teams a year ago and going 8-2 to start the 2025 season, it's no surprise that Vanderbilt comes into this meeting as the clear favorite, especially off a bye, even with Kentucky winning three straight.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they have gone 0-3 against ranked opponents thus far in 2025, and with the Commodores going 6-0 at home and possessing one of the top-10 highest scoring offenses in College Football, expect them to pick up a statement win in this one.
Over/under pick for Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt
- Over 50.5 (4 units)
Coming into this game, both teams have been rock solid defensively, but it's the offense that is the strength of both, and after they both put up over 40 points a week ago, expect this to be a very high-scoring encounter.
For the Wildcats, the over sits at 7-3 in their last 10 overall games, with 35 or more points given up in two of their last three games played on the road, and for the Commodores, the over comes in at 6-4 in their past 10, with 40 or more points scored on six different occasions this season.
Keep it simple, take the over.
