We have an exciting battle of the 1-1 programs taking place in nonconference action for Week 3 of the college football season, as the Liberty Flames will be heading to Doyt L. Perry Stadium on Saturday evening to take on the Bowling Green Falcons in our Flames vs. Falcons prediction. With the game airing on ESPN+, this game is going to be intriguing. The Flames (1-1) are coming off a 34-24 road loss on Saturday against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, while the Falcons (1-1) are coming off a 34-20 road loss against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday. Rivalries, tempo, trenches — NCAAF picks for Liberty Flames vs Bowling Green Falcons.

Flames Looking to Heat Up

The Liberty Flames season has gotten off to a decent start as they are coming off a 34-24 road loss against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in their most recent game. Quarterback Ethan Vasko had a huge game as he completed 19-of-29 passes for 335 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. The Flames were also able to run the football extremely well as they averaged 5.4 yards per carry to move the football.

The Gamecocks were able to step up offensively despite not being able to pass the football, going just 6-for-12 passing. Jacksonville State was able to run for 338 yards (5.0 yards per attempt) against Liberty in the game. It is hard to get the defense off the field when they allow 8-for-14 on third-down attempts by the opposing offense.

This game opened with a 7.5-point spread, so we are getting a bit of an advantage to not get the hook going against us. Ethan Vasko has a 5:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, while Drew Pyne has one passing touchdown in two games this year. Over/Under Pick for Liberty Flames vs. Bowling Green Falcons

  • Under 51.5 (4 units)

The weather is supposed to be rainy at kickoff, meaning it is going to be difficult to pass the football. However, this is just not trusting Bowling Green’s offense to score enough points to reach their implied total. We talked about it in the previous section, btu they are not able to really get much going through the air, and that makes scoring have a significant dropoff. Liberty’s offense should be able ot score, but expecting them to reach 30+ points feels a bit tough as well. All in all, go with under 51.5 total points to score.
