Louisiana travels to Mobile for a Sun Belt matchup against South Alabama at Hancock Whitney Stadium, with the opening kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Both teams sit at 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Ragin’ Cajuns arrive off a 35-23 loss to Troy, while the Jaguars snapped a five-game skid by beating Georgia State 38-31 on the road. Before kickoff: NCAAF predictions for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at South Alabama Jaguars in one clean snapshot.

Louisiana Tries to End Four-Game Skid

Louisiana fell to Troy in Week 9 despite moving the ball for 371 total yards. Quarterback Lunch Winfield completed 12 of 22 passes for 187 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Winfield added 139 rushing yards on 23 carries, again showing dual-threat ability in the loss. Running back Zylan Perry contributed with a short rushing score, giving him six touchdowns on the year. Wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. led the passing attack with five receptions for 74 yards and a 36-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

The Ragin’ Cajuns have averaged 23 points per game but have allowed 33. The total offense has been 370 yards per game while giving up slightly more on defense. Louisiana’s biggest concern has been turnovers; they committed three against Troy and now are minus-five in turnover margin over the last four games.

On defense, linebacker Terrence Williams recorded eight tackles, and safety Devin Lafayette added nine in the loss. Defensive end Jordan Lawson posted one sack, helping a defense that has an average of just over one per game. Louisiana has allowed too many yards on the ground, including 4.6 yards per carry (102nd) and 199.1 yards rushing per game (127th).

Injuries: Louisiana lists ten players as questionable, most of them along the offensive line, including guards Z. Alexander, G. Jackson, J. Gooch, and X. Brown. Linebackers N. Brown and L. Jones are questionable as well. South Alabama Finds Life Behind Davenport and Bullock

Receiver Jeremy Scott stretched the field with three catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, while Ted Hurst added five receptions for 110 yards and two scores. The Jaguars finished with 468 total yards and no turnovers, a major improvement from a prior stretch when giveaways stalled several drives.

Defensively, linebacker Kedrick Walker produced 1.5 sacks and nine tackles, while safety Wesley Miller led the team with 11 total tackles. South Alabama allowed 440 yards but capitalized on two key interceptions, including one in the final minute that sealed the game. Through eight contests, the Jaguars have averaged 26 points per game while giving up 31. The offense has relied on Bullock’s consistency. The running back has 681 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.  On defense, they rank 125th in yards per carry allowed (5.1) and 123rd in rushing yards allowed per game (196ypg).

Injuries: South Alabama lists six players as questionable, highlighted by tight ends H. McDaniel, N. Forystek, and M. Lynch. Defensive players C. Dozier, B. Dillard, and K. Bradley are on the report as well, listed as questionable.

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at South Alabama Jaguars Pick

Spread Pick for Louisiana vs. USA

  • South Alabama -5.5 (4 Units)

South Alabama’s offense looks better behind Bishop Davenport’s passing and Kentrel Bullock’s power running, which should test a Louisiana defense that has allowed 28 or more points in four straight games. The Jaguars just put up 468 yards and committed no turnovers, while Louisiana continues to struggle with giveaways and a depleted offensive line. Bullock’s consistency on the ground and Davenport’s connection with Scott and Hurst will produce plenty of yards and points at home Saturday for the Jaguars. If Louisiana’s offensive line is not at full strength, South Alabama’s front seven, led by Walker and Miller, can control the trenches. The Jaguars’ momentum and better overall play coming into this matchup will prevail.

Over/Under Pick for Louisiana at South Alabama

  • Over 53.5 (5 Units)

Both teams have found success offensively and remain inconsistent on defense, creating a likely high-scoring game. Louisiana just played a 58-point contest against Troy, and South Alabama’s win over Georgia State hit 69 total points. The Ragin’ Cajuns average nearly 370 yards per game, while South Alabama’s balanced attack generates close to 380, with both defenses surrendering similar yardage totals. The combination of Winfield’s mobility, Bullock’s rushing ability, and downfield weapons like Scott and Hurst sets up plenty of sustained drives and big plays.
