Louisiana vs Charlotte Picks and Prediction for Saturday September 26 2026
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns visit the Charlotte 49ers at Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM ET. Louisiana completes a challenging nonconference stretch after opening the season with an impressive offensive performance against Lamar and later making the trip to nationally ranked USC. Charlotte returns home after consecutive road games against Ole Miss and Appalachian State. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Louisiana Wants to Reestablish Its Ground Game
Louisiana provided a clear look at its preferred offensive identity in its opener against Lamar. The Ragin’ Cajuns generated 474 total yards, including 243 on the ground, and all five of their touchdowns came through the rushing attack. That type of production gives Louisiana a formula that can travel.
The schedule has subsequently tested Louisiana against much stronger opposition, including a trip to USC. That matters when evaluating the raw results because performances against nationally ranked Power Four teams should not carry the same weight as games against comparable Group of Five opposition. Charlotte represents a much more reasonable measuring stick.
Louisiana’s biggest opportunity is at the line of scrimmage. If the Ragin’ Cajuns can recreate the rushing efficiency demonstrated earlier in September, they can control possession and make Charlotte defend extended drives. That would also reduce the number of opportunities available to the 49ers’ offense.
Charlotte Finally Returns Home
Charlotte opened its season with a wild 43-41 triple-overtime loss to The Citadel before beginning a difficult road stretch that included Ole Miss and Appalachian State. The 49ers now return to Jerry Richardson Stadium for their final nonconference game before AAC play begins.
The season opener demonstrated both the upside and the concern surrounding Charlotte. Scoring 41 points showed the 49ers can generate offense, but allowing an FCS opponent to match them throughout regulation and three overtimes raised legitimate defensive questions. Those questions become especially relevant against Louisiana’s rushing attack.
Home field gives Charlotte a chance to reset after its difficult travels. The 49ers should be more comfortable offensively than they were against the stronger defenses on their schedule, but stopping Louisiana may ultimately determine whether they can turn this into a four-quarter game.
Louisiana vs Charlotte Picks and Prediction
Pick: Louisiana Moneyline
Louisiana’s ability to run the football is the matchup component I trust moState Charlotte has already demonstrated defensive vulnerability, while the Ragin’ Cajuns have shown they can build their offense around a productive ground game. The road setting prevents me from becoming overly aggressive with a hypothetical spread, but Louisiana is the preferred outright side.
Pick: Over 52.5 or Lower
Charlotte’s 43-41 opener demonstrated that games involving the 49ers can become high scoring when their defense struggles to get off the field. Louisiana should have opportunities to run successfully, while Charlotte returns home to face a defense considerably less imposing than some it has encountered recently. At 52.5 or below, both teams have realistic paths to contributing enough for the over.
Final Picks: Louisiana Moneyline and Over 52.5 or Lower
