Cardinals Drop a Game to the Cavaliers
This is the third season of the Jeff Brohm era for the Louisville Cardinals, and he has logged a 23-9 (13-5) record thus far. His Cardinals are off to a 4-1 start and sit at 1-1 in ACC play. After a 4-0 winning streak out of the gate against Eastern Kentucky (51-17), James Madison (28-14), Bowling Green (40-17), and Pittsburgh (34-27), Louisville lost outright in overtime as 6.5-point home favorites against #24 Virginia (30-27) last time out. This defeat was on October 4th, meaning that Louisville will enter this game coming off a bye. The Cardinals are currently 1-4 ATS and 3-2 to the over.
In terms of personnel, it’s the redshirt senior transfer from USC, Miller Moss, leading the offense this season. Moss has thrown for 1,358 yards on a 67.0% completion rate, adding seven touchdowns and four interceptions. WR Chris Bell has emerged as his top target, registering 502 yards and four touchdowns on 35 receptions. RB Isaac Brown has spearheaded the rushing attack, logging 334 yards and three touchdowns on 46 carries (7.3 YPC).
- Offensively, the Cardinals are scoring 32.3 points per game (35th), while averaging 369.5 yards per week (71st).
- Defensively, they are 40th in the country this year, conceding 22.0 points per game. They’re allowing 290.0 yards per contest, which is 12th.
#2 Hurricanes Take Care of the Seminoles
Meanwhile, it appears that things are finally coming to fruition for Coach Mario Cristobal in his fourth season as the lead man of the Miami Hurricanes. The Canes are an impressive 5-0 (1-0 ACC) out of the gate, and they’ve moved up to No. 2 in the latest AP poll. They have a rollover win against Bethune (45-3), but other than that, Miami has been taking care of respectable opponents like #6 Notre Dame (27-24), #18 South Florida (49-12), Florida (26-7), and #18 Florida State (28-22). Like Louisville, Miami is also coming off a bye week. As for their sports betting numbers, they’ve 4-1 ATS and 3-2 to the under.

The offense runs through QB Carson Beck this season, and the Georgia transfer has looked excellent. He has 1,213 yards on a 73.4% completion rate, adding 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. WRs Malachi Toney (375 yards, 3 TD) and CJ Daniels (269 yards, 5 TD) lead the way out wide. RB Mark Fletcher Jr. has handled a bulk of the rushing workload, going for 428 yards and five touchdowns on 78 totes (5.5 YPC).
- The Hurricanes are out to -180 favorites to win the ACC title, while sitting at +800 to win the national championship.
- Miami’s offense has been great this season, ranking 32nd in scoring (32.5 PPG), while putting up 395.5 yards per game (51st).
- On the defensive side, the Canes are 12th this season, allowing 16.3 points per game. In terms of yardage, they’re 18th, conceding 297.8 yards per contest.
Louisville vs. Miami Pick
Spread Pick for Louisville vs. Miami
- Louisville Cardinals +13.5 (-105) (5 units)
I’m riding with Louisville in this game, but I’m in no rush to lock this bet in. I am going to hold out until kickoff, and hopefully, there will be a chance to get a full 14.0 points. Even if the spread doesn’t get bumped up, I still like Louisville in this game.
Both teams are coming off of byes, but I do think that favors the underdog in this matchup more. They’ll need all of the prep that they can get against a top-five opponent. Additionally, these schools have met twice during Jeff Brohm’s 2+ year tenure at Louisville, and he’s 1-1 SU against them. This includes a 38-31 outright win in 2023 and a 52-45 barnburning loss last year. The talent is there with this Louisville team, and given the head-to-head coaching experience and an extra week of prep, I think Louisville can keep it inside of the number on Friday night.
Over/Under Pick for Louisville vs. Miami
- Over 50.5 (-115) (5 units)
Well, as you just saw above, the last two meetings between the schools have combined for 69 and 97 points. We have two veteran quarterbacks in Miller Moss and Carson Beck going toe-to-toe, and I just have to think that this game skews to the over. I won’t be surprised at all if both teams hit the 30-point mark and we soar over the number.
Both of these offenses have been firing this season. Miami is scoring 32.5 points per game against FBS-level opposition, while Louisville is averaging 32.3 points per game. The over is 5-2 in Louisville’s last seven games, while going 13-7 in Miami’s last 20 outings. It’s 4-1 in the last five meetings between the teams. With a couple of veteran quarterbacks and two potent offenses, I think it’s best to lock in the over.
