Memphis earned a week one win and are looking to keep their momentum going against a weaker opponent. Meanwhile, the Georgia State Panthers need to bounce back with a home win after losing the first week of the season. Memphis is a 13.5-point favorite while the total is set at 58 points. Tigers earn easy win against FCS team

Memphis earned an easy victory in the first week of the season, winning by a score of 45-10 against Chattanooga. Brendon Lewis completed 22/28 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was also the leading rusher with 81 yards on ten carries with a score. Frank Peasant was second in the rushing department with 61 yards on six carries, including a touchdown. Sutton Smith and Greg Desrosiers Jr. also rushed for a touchdown each. Cortez Braham Jr. was the leading receiver with 52 yards on three receptions and the only TD reception. On defense, Chris Bracy led the way with six tackles and four tackle assists. Jalen Bell and Sam Brumfield had a sack each while Chauncy Logan Jr. and DeMarco Ward had an interception each.

The Tigers have 40 incoming transfers and 30 outgoing transfers to shake up the roster a bit. Xavier Hill and A.J. Pena are the biggest names to join a different team while Amos will face his former team after departing to Georgia State. Brendon Lewis is the most important transfer into Memphis as the now starting QB. The other transfers in Braham Jr. and Brumfield already made a large impact to their new team, and Memphis is hoping for more of the same production.

Georgia State gets crushed by Ole Miss

The Panthers failed to come up with a win in the first week of the season, falling to the Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 63-7. Cameran Brown completed only 8/14 passes for 17 yards and Christian Veilleux went 4/11 for 52 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Rashad Amos led the way on the ground for Georgia State with 68 yards on nine carries, while Javon Robinson was the only receiver to catch multiple passes on the day with three. He had 52 yards and the only touchdown. On defense, Jordan Huff had four tackles and four tackle assists while Josiah Robinson had the lone sack. Chams Diagne and Huff had an interception each.

Georgia State has 27 incoming transfers and 37 outgoing transfers. TE Dorian Fleming was the biggest loss among Georgia State's roster, but they are hopeful the new players added can help replenish and grow the roster. RBs Branson Robinson and Jordon Simmons are the headlines in this incoming class of transfers.

Memphis vs. Georgia State Pick

Spread Pick for Memphis vs. Georgia State

  • Memphis -13.5

Georgia State did not give me any confidence after their game against Ole Miss and while Memphis is not on the same level yet, I have confidence the Tigers can win by at least 14 points in this one. Memphis has won and covered in each of its last five games dating back to last season and Georgia State has failed to cover in seven of its last ten games. Georgia State is already splitting between two QBs and when your team does that, you are not in a good position. Give me Memphis until Georgia State does something to prove itself. (Memphis -13.5)

Over/Under pick for Memphis vs. Georgia State

  • Over 58

Georgia State has given up 63, 48, and 44 points in each of their last three games. Memphis has a competent offense that can easily get to that mark if they tried. The Tigers have scored an average of 43.5 points per game in their last four outings and Georgia State should put up more than seven points in this one. It will be close, but the over should it, largely on the back of Memphis. (Over 58 points)
