The Montana Grizzlies travel to Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon, to face the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 PM ET with national coverage on USA Network. Montana enters at a perfect 3-0 after beating Southern Utah 28-21, Drake 45-10 and Utah Tech 35-14. Oregon State is still searching for its first victory after opening with a 33-20 loss at Houston and then falling 35-24 at home against No. 13 Texas Tech. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Be sure to check out our free college football picks for more NCAAF predictions throughout the season.

Montana Brings an Explosive 3-0 Record to Corvallis

Montana has done everything asked of it through the opening three games. The Grizzlies began with a competitive 28-21 victory over Southern Utah, overwhelmed Drake 45-10 and then closed their three-game homestand by beating Utah Tech 35-14. Montana has scored at least 28 points in every game and enters its first FBS matchup of the season averaging 36 points per contest.

The underlying offensive numbers make the Grizzlies more interesting than the typical FCS visitor. Montana is averaging approximately 429 yards per game and 6.6 yards per play, with about 264 yards coming through the air and 165 on the ground. The Grizzlies also own a +3 turnover margin. Against Utah Tech, Montana generated multiple explosive scoring plays and eventually pulled away during the fourth quarter.

Saturday obviously represents a significant increase in competition, but Oregon State's 0-2 start means this isn't an impossible FBS assignment. The Beavers have allowed 68 points through two games and have struggled badly to establish their rushing attack. Montana doesn't need to dominate the line of scrimmage to stay competitive. If the Grizzlies avoid turnovers and continue creating explosive plays, they have enough offense to make Oregon State work for four quarters.

Oregon State Is Better Than Its 0-2 Record but Needs a Win

Oregon State has started 0-2, but the level of competition provides some context. The Beavers opened with a 33-20 road loss at Houston before returning home to face No. 13 Texas Tech. Oregon State was competitive for much of that game before the Red Raiders scored the decisive touchdown late and eventually left Corvallis with a 35-24 victory.

The Beavers are averaging 22 points and approximately 437 yards per game, but those numbers reveal an extremely unbalanced offense. Oregon State has generated nearly 390 passing yards per game while averaging fewer than 50 rushing yards. That inability to consistently establish the ground game has made the offense more predictable and contributed to a poor third-down conversion rate.

This is unquestionably Oregon State's best opportunity to get into the win column. The Beavers have played two FBS opponents and now face an FCS team at Reser Stadium. Still, Montana is undefeated and has been significantly more efficient than a typical FCS opponent. Oregon State deserves to be favored, but laying an enormous number with an 0-2 team that hasn't demonstrated an ability to run the football would be difficult.

Montana vs Oregon State Picks and Prediction

Pick: Montana +17.5 or Better

Take Montana if the Grizzlies are getting +17.5 or better. Oregon State should have the advantage in overall size and depth, but the Beavers are 0-2 and have allowed 33 and 35 points. Montana is 3-0, averaging 36 points and more than 400 yards per game, and owns a positive turnover margin. The Grizzlies have enough offensive capability to contribute to the scoreboard and make laying more than two touchdowns with Oregon State uncomfortable. Once the market reaches +17 or better, Montana becomes my preferred side.

Pick: Over 52.5

Take the Over if the total is set at 52.5 or lower. Oregon State has surrendered at least 33 points in both games, while Montana has scored 28, 45 and 35. The Grizzlies obviously face a substantial defensive upgrade, but Oregon State's early defensive results suggest Montana can still reach the high teens or low 20s. A projected Oregon State 34, Montana 24 gives the Beavers their first victory while putting Montana comfortably inside the target spread and sending the matchup Over.

Final Picks: Montana +17.5 or Better and Over 52.5
