Notre Dame is streaking at the right time
Notre Dame lost to Texas A&M 41-40 on Sept. 13 and since then, has won seven straight. That included wins over Arkansas (56-13) and USC (34-24), but they haven't really been tested by a strong team. They took care of business last week against Navy, winning easily, 49-10 in the snow. The Mids were without star QB Blake Horvath, who was injured in their 31-17 loss to North Texas. QB C.J. Carr threw for 218 yards and three TDs to lead the Irish in a very efficient manner (13 of 16). Jeremiyah Love added 94 yards on 13 carries.

The Irish have a balanced team led by Carr, who has 2,275 yards passing with 19 TDs and just four picks. Love leads the ground attack with 988 yards and 13 TDs. WR Jordan Faison added 43 catches for 545 yards, but Carr has three other players who have 361 or more yards receiving.
Narduzzi shakes things up
It wasn't the brightest thing for Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi to say that this was basically a meaningless game and the ACC means more, which it does. He was asked if this was a must-win game
"Absolutely not, it is not an ACC game,” Narduzzi said Monday. “I’m glad you brought that up. It’s not an ACC game. I’d gladly get beat 103 or 110-10 in that game, they can put 100 up on us as long as we win the next two after that. But again, our focus is on Notre Dame and getting as many wins as we can.”
Strange comment for a team that has won five straight games, including a solid 35-20 road win over Stanford in their last game. The key for the Panthers has been the play of freshman QB Mason Heintschel, who has 1,547 passing yards with 12 TDs and five INTs. He got his first start in early October for Eli Holstein.
Raphael Williams Jr. and Kenny Johnson are his top targets. Johnson has 37 catches for 573 yards and four TDs, while Williams Jr. has 36 catches for 525 yards and six TDs. RB Ja'Kyrian Turner leads the Panthers with 399 rushing yards and six TDs.

Pitt's biggest strength is stopping the run (80.7ypg), and they rank third in the nation, while the Irish rank 25th in the nation in rushing (194.4ypg). Pitts also has a strong pass rush as they rank 25th in the nation in sacks with 2.7 per game. But the run will be even more important with rain expected in the forecast in the second half. Both defenses are solid and with rain expected, I'm going under in this game. The Irish had gone under in four straight before the Navy game.
