Oregon State vs. Texas Tech Picks and Predictions, Saturday September 13, 2025

By: Nathan Smith Published 09/11/2025, 05:23 PM ET

The College Football season has gotten off to a red-hot start, and with so many upsets, dominant performances and big plays, anything could happen in any game, including in our Oregon State vs. Texas Tech prediction.

The Oregon State Beavers (0-2) came into 2025 with a glimmer of hope, but thus far they've struggled mightily, and after two losses to unranked opponents, their schedule will only get harder and harder from here.

On Saturday they take on the 21 Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-0), led by an offense that has been down right unstoppable through two games, and with the team looking to rise in the rankings, this is another opportunity for them to make a major statement. Read on to see our Oregon State vs. Texas Tech prediction.

Can Oregon State bounce back after a rough start?

The Oregon State Beavers ended the 2024 campaign by losing six of their past seven games, and in 2025, things haven't gotten much better, with the team starting the season 0-2 in what were very winnable games at home. Unfortunately for the Beavers, they've managed an average of just 21 points in those two games, and with their opponents going over 30 points and 300 yards in each of those encounters, things are looking dire early in the season.

Through two games, one of the biggest issues has been the Beavers' QB play, with Maalik Murphy tossing four scores and three interceptions, and while those numbers alone haven't been terrible, this is a team that needs to convert more to keep up with their below-average defensive unit. Last time out for Oregon State was a tough home loss to Fresno State, with Murphy tossing his first four TD's of the season in this one, and despite the Beavers holding their opponents to no passing TD's and out-gaining them 528 yards to 318, they came up short 36-27 on the back of a 16 point fourth quarter from the Bulldogs.

Can Texas Tech continue to rise in the rankings?

The Texas Tech Red Raiders come into this one ranked 21st in the nation, and it should be no surprise after a red-hot start, with the team having the opportunity to make another statement heading on the road to face a ranked opponent in game four of the season. Through two games, the Red Raiders have dominated on both sides of the ball, putting up 60 or more in both games thus far, and with a defense that allowed just 21 points in those two games, it's no shock that they've been absolutely dominant.

For Texas Tech in those two games, Beheren Morton has been perfect under center, with a 7/0 TD/INT ratio to this point alongside a 74% completion rate, and with three rushers over 100 yards in two games, this offense is one of the best in the country. Last time out for the Red Raiders was a dominant win over Kent State, with 127 rushing yards on the ground to Adam Hill setting the tone as the defense forced two turnovers and limited their opponents to just over 200 total yards as they came away winners 62-14.

Oregon State vs. Texas Tech pick

Texas Tech -23.5 (5 units)

Through two games this season, these two teams couldn't look more different, with the Red Raiders outscoring the Beavers 129-42, with Texas Tech giving up just 21 points as Oregon State's defensive unit has allowed 70 against them.

On paper, the Red Raiders just have every advantage of a much more aggressive and talented defense to go along with a balanced, red-hot offensive unit, and with home-field advantage to go with all of that, expect a one-sided Texas Tech victory in this one.

Over/Under pick for Oregon State vs. Texas Tech

Over 61.5 (4 units)

If this matchup is as one-sided as expected, it could be a bad day for Oregon State's defense, and with Texas Tech averaging 64.5 points and over 600 yards a game, if the Beavers offense can turn up at all, this one will turn into a blowout or a shootout.

For the Beavers, the over sits at 6-4 in their past 10 overall games, with 32 or more points allowed in eight of those contests, and for the Red Raiders, the over comes in at 8-2 in their past 10, with an average of 41 points scored per game during that stretch.

Keep it simple, take the over.
