Jaguars have big challenge against SEC foe
The South Alabama Jaguars were unable to be victorious last week against the Tulane Green Wave in their Week 2 game, 33-31. The offense was able to have a solid all-around performance as quarterback Bishop Davenport (17-24, 231 yards, two TDs, 12 rushes, 63 yards, 1 TD) looked sharp while running back Kentrel Bullock (24 carries, 107 yards, 1 TD) looked great. Wide receiver Devin Voisin (8 receptions, 152 yards, 2 TD) also looked incredible to make the offense look elite.
The defense of the South Alabama Jaguars needs to improve a bit more on that side of the ball. They allowed Tulane to have 165 passing yards and 241 rushing yards in the game. One thing the Jaguars need to do here is be better at killing drives as the Green Wave were able to convert on 9-of-17 on third down and 1-of-1 on fourth down attempts. If South Alabama can figure out how to improve defensively and get some stops, it will be difficult to stop this team.

Tigers on the Prowl
The Auburn Tigers were able to completely overwhelm the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday, 42-3. Quarterback Jackson Arnold had one fewer incompletion (4) than touchdown passes (3) on the day. Running back Jeremiah Cobb also looked impressive, running 11 times for 121 yards (11.0 yards per rush) with a pair of rushing touchdowns. The one issue was seeing Auburn allow five sacks on the day, so they need to work on protection to step up.
The defense of the Tigers dominated as they gave up three points on 68 total yards (71 passing, -3 rushing). The team limited Ball State to six total first downs and was 1-for-14 on third-down tries. Auburn was also able to record a takeaway with a fumble recovery and lived in the backfield as the defense had six sacks and 14 tackles for loss. If the team can look as sharp as they did here, it will be difficult to overwhelm them.
The Auburn Tigers’ offense has looked outstanding early on as they are scoring 40.0 points per game, which is tied for 35th in the country. Their defense is also looking legitimate as their 13.5 points per game given up is tied for 41st in NCAA Football.
Injury Report for Auburn

South Alabama Jaguars vs. Auburn Tigers Pick
Spread Pick for South Alabama Jaguars vs. Auburn Tigers
- Auburn Tigers -24.5 (5 units)
There is a significant difference between Group of Five football and SEC football. There is a significant difference when diving into the third down conversions as South Alabama has gone just 6-for-20 (30.0%) on third downs, while Auburn is 11-of-21 (52.38%) on their chances on the money down. Looking at the performances last week, the Jags allowed 33 points while the Tigers gave up only three points, so there should be a large difference. All in all, go with the Auburn Tigers to secure the victory and cover the spread.
Over/Under Pick for South Alabama Jaguars vs. Auburn Tigers
- UNDER 55.5 (4 units)
Both pass defenses have stepped up and limited the amount of passes as South Alabama allows a 59.6 completion percentage, while Auburn is allowing the opposing quarterback to complete 57.8% of their passes against them. These teams have combined for six total turnovers, so they are not getting shorter fields to basically put free points on the board for their offense. Go with UNDER 55.5 POINTS in this game as the better bet to make.
