Bulls On A 4 Game Win Streak

South Florida enters this contest at 6–1, riding high after a dominant 48–13 win over Florida Atlantic. Quarterback Byrum Brown has been the centerpiece of their attack, throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns in that victory while also rushing for 111 yards and another score. His dual-threat ability has made the Bulls one of the most difficult teams in the AAC to defend, as they average over 470 yards of total offense per game. Running back Nykahi Davenport adds balance with his physical style, and the Bulls’ offensive line has been strong in both run blocking and pass protection, giving Brown the freedom to dictate tempo.

The Bulls’ offensive versatility is matched by their explosiveness. They rank inside the top 10 nationally in scoring, averaging 41.7 points per game, and they’ve shown the ability to strike quickly through the air or grind down defenses with sustained drives. Wide receiver Jeremiah Koger has emerged as a reliable deep threat, stretching defenses vertically and opening up space underneath for the ground game. Even with some injuries at wideout and tight end, South Florida has enough depth to keep defenses guessing, and their red-zone efficiency has been excellent, converting over 92% of their trips into points.

Defensively, South Florida has been opportunistic, ranking among the top 15 nationally in turnover margin. They’ve forced opponents into mistakes with aggressive pressure packages, and their speed in the secondary has helped limit explosive plays. However, discipline remains a concern, as the Bulls rank near the bottom of the FBS in penalty yards per game. Against a Memphis team that thrives on capitalizing on extra possessions, avoiding costly flags will be critical. If the defense can stay composed and continue to generate takeaways, South Florida has the tools to control this matchup.

Memphis Suffers First Loss

Memphis comes in at 6–1 as well, though they’re looking to rebound after a 31–24 loss to UAB that exposed some vulnerabilities. Quarterback AJ Hill struggled with consistency in that game, completing just 52% of his passes, though he did connect for a touchdown. Running back Gregroy Desrosiers was a bright spot, rushing for 74 yards on just 11 carries while also contributing as a receiver. The Tigers’ offense has been balanced all season, averaging over 38 points per game, but their ability to finish drives stalled against UAB, and they’ll need sharper execution against a South Florida defense that thrives on turnovers.

The Tigers’ passing game has been steady overall, with Cortez Braham emerging as the go-to target. His ability to win contested catches and stretch the field vertically gives Memphis a reliable option in key situations. When paired with Desrosiers’ versatility, the Tigers can stress defenses horizontally and vertically, creating mismatches. However, protection has been inconsistent, and against a Bulls front that likes to bring pressure, keeping Hill upright will be a major storyline. Memphis has been excellent in the red zone this season, scoring on over 96% of their trips, and that efficiency will be vital in what projects as a high-possession game.

Defensively, Memphis has been opportunistic as well, ranking 14th nationally in turnover margin. Their secondary has been tested by injuries, with multiple cornerbacks questionable, which could open the door for South Florida’s passing attack to find mismatches. The Tigers have been stronger against the run than the pass, but their ability to control time of possession—averaging nearly 32 minutes per game—helps keep their defense fresh. If Memphis can limit explosive plays and force South Florida into long drives, they’ll have a chance to tilt momentum back in their favor at home.

South Florida vs Memphis Pick

South Florida vs Memphis Spread Pick

  • South Florida -4.5 (5 Units)

South Florida -4.5 makes sense given how dynamic their offense has been and the matchup advantages they bring into Memphis. Byrum Brown has been one of the most effective dual-threat quarterbacks in the AAC, and his ability to stretch defenses both vertically and on the ground gives the Bulls a consistent edge. With Nykahi Davenport providing balance in the run game and Jeremiah Koger emerging as a reliable deep target, USF has multiple ways to attack a Memphis defense that has been vulnerable through the air. The Bulls are averaging over 41 points per game, and their efficiency in the red zone makes them especially dangerous in a contest where every possession will matter.

Defensively, South Florida’s aggressive front has been excellent at generating pressure and forcing turnovers, which plays directly into Memphis’ recent struggles with consistency. The Tigers’ offensive line has been shaky at times, and if USF can disrupt AJ Hill’s rhythm early, it could tilt the game heavily in their favor. Penalties remain the one area of concern for the Bulls, but if they stay disciplined, their ability to control tempo and capitalize on short fields should allow them to cover the number. With momentum on their side and a more complete profile on both sides of the ball, South Florida -4.5 looks like the sharper play.

South Florida vs Memphis Over/Under Pick

  • Under 59.5 (4 Units)

The Under 59.5 has appeal here because both defenses are built to limit explosive plays, and each team has shown the ability to control tempo. South Florida’s front seven has been excellent against the run, forcing opponents into long drives, while Memphis has leaned on time of possession to keep games manageable. Although both offenses are capable of scoring in bunches, the Bulls’ defensive pressure and the Tigers’ red-zone efficiency suggest more sustained possessions rather than quick strikes. With turnovers likely to play a role and both sides looking to avoid giving away momentum, this matchup sets up well for a total that stays below 59.5.
