South Florida Bulls Look To Bounce Back After Road Loss
South Florida comes in at 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the American after falling 41-38 at Navy last week. The Bulls trailed early and rallied late with 22 fourth-quarter points, but fell short in the end. Byrum Brown had one of the best individual performances in the conference this season with 327 passing yards, two touchdown throws, 136 rushing yards, and two rushing scores. Even in defeat, Brown continued to show why his season stats are 2,530 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and 841 rushing yards with 11 more touchdowns. South Florida has leaned heavily on Brownβs dual-threat abilities all year and will again need a strong afternoon from the quarterback.
The Bulls have dropped two of their last three, both on the road, but the offense still scored at least 38 points in each loss. USF has also picked up some comfortable wins over FAU and UTSA in the last month, while putting up 48 and 55 points in those games. As long as Brown is healthy and active, the Bulls will continue to score plenty of points.
Keshaun Singleton leads the team in receiving with 659 yards and six touchdowns on 38 receptions. His chemistry with Brown has been solid all season. Mac Harris leads the defense with 90 tackles and has 6 sacks, clearly the most disruptive force for the Bulls in the front seven.

Key Injury Report for USF:
- CB James Chenault (undisclosed) is questionable. Has 32 tackles and two INTs.
UAB Blazers Trying to Rebound from a Tough Stretch
UAB is 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the American after a 53-24 loss to North Texas. The Blazers gave up 31 first-half points and never recovered. Jevon Jackson was the top performer for UAB with 163 rushing yards. Jackson has rushed for 751 yards on 128 carries and has been one of the few steady contributors for UAB during a difficult year.
Quarterback Jalen Kitna passed for 281 yards with one touchdown but also threw two interceptions. Kitna has 2,066 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He took over from Ryder Burton, who has played in three straight games due to Kitna's injury, but he's back. The passing game has been inconsistent all season, and the mistakes have been costly during UAB's current three-game losing streak. Iverson Hooks has been a bright spot with 735 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 57 receptions. Hooks provides Kitna with a reliable target, though UAB has struggled to create big plays often enough to stay competitive.
The Blazers' defense had big problems slowing the North Texas rushing attack, as it allowed five rushing touchdowns. That breakdown raises concerns facing Brown, who comes into this game off 136 yards on the ground and has carried the ball 146 times this season. UAB must commit numbers to contain him or risk another long afternoon.
Key Injury Report for UAB:
- S Jamal Cheek (undisclosed) is questionable. Has 23 tackles.
- S AJ Brown (undisclosed) is questionable. Hs 37 tackles.
USF vs. UAB Pick
Spread Pick for USF vs. UAB
- South Florida -21.5 (5 Units)
The matchup favors South Florida, dictating the tempo and scoreboard. The Bulls have scored 38 or more in every road game this season, and Brown is coming off a 463-yard total performance. UAB just allowed 53 points and surrendered 189 rushing yards to North Texas' lead running back alone. Now the Blazers face a quarterback who is more dangerous on designed runs and scrambles. UAB's long list of questionable defensive players creates a real problem against one of the strongest offenses in the conference. South Florida has shown the ability to extend leads in a hurry, and UAB has played from behind often during the past month. Given the Bulls' scoring, the Blazers' defensive issues, and Brown's current form, South Florida will cover on the road.
Over/Under Pick for USF vs. UAB
- Over 69.5 (4 Units)
South Florida road games have been consistently high-scoring affairs. The Bulls just played a 79-point game at Navy and had a 99-point contest at North Texas earlier in the season. Brown's combination of passing and rushing has pushed South Florida into shootouts regularly. UAB also contributes to the total with Jackson's steady rushing yardage and Hooks' involvement in the passing game. Kitna throws often, which creates more possessions and more scoring chances for both teams. With South Florida averaging well over 40 points in recent wins and UAB allowing 53 last week, the over is a solid choice here.
