Can Temple pick up a massive road victory?
After starting the season 2-0, the Temple Owls have dropped three of their last four games, and with a 1-1 record in conference play, they now sit near the bottom of the American Conference standings. With a QB rating of 154.7 and 381 yards per game, this Owls offense continues to have success, but given that their defense allows 26 points a game, they've struggled lately to find that balance and consistency.
At quarterback, senior Evan Simon has been near flawless this season, posting a 13/0 TD/INT ratio with over 1,110 passing yards, but with a rushing attack that has just eight touchdowns, it's easy to see where they've struggled this year. Last time out for Temple was a tight home loss to Navy, with Simon throwing for 345 yards and a score as they came up just short with Navy coming away winners 32-31 despite the Owls having over 500 yards of total offense. Navy scored a late touchdown and then recorded the two-point conversion for a heartbreaking home loss for the Owls against an undefeated squad.
Temple is averaging 5.7 yards per play (71st) and 171.8 rushing yards per game (42nd). On defense, they are allowing 5.8 yards per play (102nd) and 172.2 rushing yards per gme (106th).
Can Charlotte cause an upset in the American Conference?
While the Charlotte 49ers have flashed some potential in 2025, for the most part, they've struggled mightily, going 1-3 at home as well as 0-3 in conference play as they sit in last place in the American Conference standings. Offensively, the 49ers have been steady, averaging 307 yards per game, but with a defense that allows just under 450 a game, along with 33 points a game, it's easy to see why this season hasn't been the most successful one for them.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, they've struggled to find consistent success in three different QB's, as they've combined to throw eight touchdowns to six interceptions, and with just 550 rushing yards and four scores on the year, they've struggled to put much together. Last time out for the 49ers was a one-sided loss to Army, with Charlotte managing just 178 yards of total offense as a fourth-quarter TD was all the offense they could find, falling 24-7 in a tough home matchup. Zach Wilcke went 8 for 14 with 42 yards, while Grayson Lofits went 8 for 12 for 68 yards and a TD. Wilcke is a Southern Miss transfer who is completing 22 of 32 for 192 yards with two TDs and a pick this season. Loftis is a Duke transfer who is completing just 49.3% of his passes for 363 yards with two TDs and three picks. Conner Harrell leads with 737 passing yards, four TDs and two INTs with two rushing scores. Harrell is out for the season with a knee injury.

Despite being the road team in this one and having struggles of their own, the Temple Owls are a solid favorite in this one, with the Charlotte 49ers going 0-3 in conference play this year while also struggling on both sides of the ball. The quarterback situation at Charlotte is a mess and while the Owls are coming off a tough last-second loss, they played well enough to beat a good Navy squad. If they play near the well, they'll win by at least three touchdowns.
Temple hasn't been much better as of late, but with a 1-0 record against unranked opponents on the road this season, expect them to pick up a big victory in this one to take them back over .500 on the season.
