Tulane Green Wave vs Ole Miss Rebels Pick and Prediction September 20th, 2025

By: Seamus Cole Published 09/18/2025, 05:08 PM ET

The Ole Miss Rebels will look to elevate themselves into the top ten as they face Tulane on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Check out our Tulane Green Wave vs Ole Miss Rebels pick and prediction here!

Tulane is 4th in the AAC with a 3-0 record, but they have yet to play a conference game this season. The Green Wave were only beaten by Army in the conference last season, so nothing but a conference title will make a successful season for them. Ole Miss will be a tough opponent, but if they are to win this one, it would make a great case for them to reach the pinnacle of the conference. Meanwhile, Ole Miss is currently first in the SEC with a 3-0 record and a 2-0 conference record. With competition like Georgia, LSU, Texas, and Alabama, it will be tough to claim the top spot in the conference at the end of the year, but every win puts them that much closer. Ole Miss is favored by 12.5 points while the total is set at 61.5 points. Can Tulane provide an incredible upset on the road?

Tulane Trying for an Upset

Tulane earned a close victory against Duke last week, winning by a score of 34-27. Jake Retzlaff went 15/23 for 245 yards, but his rushing was what carried the squad. He ran for a team-high 111 yards on 17 carries with an incredible four touchdowns. Shazz Preston had the most receiving yards with 95, but Omari Hayes caught a team-high four passes. Dickson Agu made six tackles and four tackle assists, while Javion White and had an interception on the day.

Tulane is bringing in 34 new players from the transfer portal, and 27 players have decided to leave the program. Unfortunately, the top four players in the transfer portal departed the program, including Darian Mensah, Parker Peterson, and Makhi Hughes. However, this allows the new players to make the most of what was given. Considering Tulane has started out 2-1 this year, they might have the confidence to continue the trend and end up with a successful season.

Retzlaff is the leader of the offense as the QB with a 59% completion percentage for 522 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Retzlaff also has the most rushing yards with 288 on 40 carries, scoring six touchdowns in the process. Javin Gordon and Zuberi Mobley each have over 100 yards rushing so far as well. Omari Hayes has the most receptions and yards among receivers with 13 and 143, respectively. On the defense, Dickson Agu has the most total tackles with 26 and Harvey Dyson leads the team in sacks with 1.5. Jaheim Johnson has the most passes defended thus far with four and is one of three players with an interception. While he has one, Javion White has a team-high three interceptions. Maurice Turner and Ty Thompson are the only players listed on the injury report, and they are both questionable.

Rebels Ready to Make a Run

Ole Miss defeated their most recent opponent in Arkansas by a score of 41-35. Trinidad Chambliss went 21/29 for 353 yards and a touchdown while Austin Simmons also threw a touchdown pass in his only attempt of the game. Chambliss was the leading rusher as well with 62 yards on 15 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Harrison Wallace III led the receiving core with six receptions and 92 yards with a TD. Wydet Williams Jr. had a team-high six tackles and interestingly, nobody had a sack or an interception on the day.

Ole Miss has 30 incoming transfers and 30 outgoing transfers for this season. The Rebels picked up some impressive recruits, including Luke Hasz, Princewill Umanmielen, Patrick Kutas, and Harrison Wallace III. Akelo Stone and Micha Pettus are the headline players who have decided to go to a different school, but there is a solid chance Ole Miss makes the playoffs this year thanks to the incoming transfers.

Chambliss performed admirably against Arkansas, but the primary QB for this team is Austin Simmons, who was injured last week. Overall, Simmons has a 60.7% completion percentage for 580 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. Chambliss has a 71.4% completion percentage with 412 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Kewan Lacy is the only rusher with over 100 yards, but he has 290 and a team-high five touchdowns. Harrison Wallace III leads the receivers with 15 receptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns. TJ Dottery had a total of 23 tackles, while Zxavian Harris leads the squad with two sacks. Williams Jr. has the lead in passes defended with four while Harris is the only one with a pick at the moment. Traylon Ray and Jaylon Braxton are both on the injured list for Ole Miss, but they are both questionable to play this week.

Tulane vs. Ole Miss Pick

Spread Pick for Tulane vs. Ole Miss

  • Ole Miss -12.5 (4 units)

Austin Simmons will be back for this one and considering their last two wins were by only one score, I expect them to put out a dominating performance that will elevate them into playoff contention. Tulane didn't need to pass much in their previous game, but I don't trust them to battle Ole Miss through the air if the run game falters. The total is a bit high, which favors Ole Miss, who have hit the over in each of the first few games of the season. Ole Miss is 2-0 at home and they have won eight of their last nine, dating back to last year. Tulane has failed to cover in four of its last six games, and they have failed to cover against Ole Miss in their last three meetings.

Over/Under pick for Tulane vs Ole Miss

  • Over 61.5 (4 units)

The total is a bit higher than I would like, but I'm still taking the over in this one. Considering Kentucky and Arkansas were able to put up a combined 58 points against Ole Miss, I don't have as much trust in their defense. Tulane is 2-1 on the over this season and Ole Miss is 3-0 on the over. The Rebels have put up an average of nearly 45 points per game thus far into the season and I don't see Tulane stopping them much on defense. Simply put, I'm taking the over until Ole Miss fails to hit it.
