Tulane vs. Memphis, Picks and Prediction, Friday, November 7, 2025
We have some American Athletic Conference action on Friday night with Tulane taking on Memphis at 9pmET. Check out this Tulane vs. Memphis prediction for a Friday key matchup in the AAC. The No. 22 Tigers (8-1, 4-1) are in second place in the AAC, tied with North Texas and USF for first place. Tulane (6-2, 3-1) is right behind the Tigers in fifth place, tied with ECU. Last season, the Tigers won this match-up on the road 34-24. When it comes to college football selections, our NCAAF Predictions are stellar.
Green Wave blown out by UTSA in their last game
Tulane last placed on Thursday, Oct. 30, and was blown out by UTSA 48-26. Tulane scored the first touchdown on a Jake Retzlaff run and then allowed the next 31 unanswered points. The Green Wave's pass defense was nonexistent as they allowed 391 yards in the air.
The Green Wave had won three straight games, and their only loss came against Ole Miss (45-10), before falling to UTSA last Thursday.
Tulane is led by former BYU QB Jake Retzlaff, who has 1,622 passing yards with seven TDs and 513 rushing yards with nine TDs. He played his worst game of the season against UTSA, throwing two picks after entering the game with just one all season.
The Green Wave does get back linebacker Sam Howard, who had missed the last two games due to a leg injury. Tulane's defense has been its Achilles' heel all season as it ranks 126th in total defense (459.4ypg) and in passing yards allowed (279ypg) per game.
On offense, they average 266.4 yards per game in the air and 200.1 yards per game on the ground.

Memphis not in latest College Football Playoff Rankings
Memphis is coming off a 38-14 win over Rice on the road on Friday night. That was their second straight win after a shocking 41-24 road loss to UAB on Oct. 18. That is their only loss of the season, which includes a win over Arkansas. That doesn't mean they won't represent Group of Five schools when the season is over but the Tigers need to keep winning games.
The key is the health of quarterback Brendon Lewis, who leads one of the most explosive attacks in the nation, averaging 37.7 points per game. Lewis was injured in their win over Rice after passing for 225 yards and rushing for 87. Lewis is considered questionable for this game, and if he can't go, Arirington Maiden, who has rushed for 33 yards but has thrown just one pass, is a possible option.
Lewis is completing 69.1% of his passes for 1,869 yards with 10 TDs and four INTs. He also has 562 rushing yards and eight TDs to lead the Tigers. Sutton Smith adds 515 yards and six TDs on the season.
Memphis has some issues defensively, especially against the pass, where they allow 246 yards per game. They are average against the run, giving up 144.3 yards per game.
Tulane vs. Memphis Pick
Spread Pick for Tulane vs. Memphis
- Tulane +3.5 (5 units)
This line would probably be higher if Lewis were healthy. I would expect him to play since this game means so much, but he might be limited as a runner. Tulane laid an egg in their last game and while they have some defensive issues, their offense is nearly as dynamic as Memphis' and this is a team that knows how to win big games. They beat Duke and Northwestern, so they have beaten two Power 4 teams this season. Take the points.
Over/Under Pick for Tulane vs. Memphis
- Over 54.5 (4 units)
This is the tougher pick due to Lewis' health, but let's face it. Both defenses are bad against the pass and there will be a lot of yards in the air on Friday night. Tulane just gave up 48 points on the road in their last game as they face another explosive AAC team. Memphis has gone over in two straight games and three of the last four against Tulane in their head-to-head meetings.
