UAB Blazers at UConn Huskies Picks and Prediction for Saturday, November 1, 2025

By: Robert Antuann Published 10/30/2025, 06:33 PM ET

The UAB Blazers head to East Hartford to take on the UConn Huskies at Pratt & Whitney Stadium on Saturday at 12:00 PM ET on CBSSN. UAB sits at 3-4 after a big win over No. 22 Memphis, while UConn is 5-3 following a tough double-overtime loss to Rice. Before kickoff: NCAAF predictions for UAB Blazers at UConn Huskies in one clean snapshot.

UAB Looking to Carry Over Confidence from Upset Win

UAB is coming off its best performance of the season, a 31-24 win over No. 22 Memphis. The Blazers totaled 470 yards in the victory, split between 251 passing and 219 rushing, the highest rushing total in nearly two years. Quarterback Ryder Burton made the most of his first start, going 20-for-27 with 251 yards and three touchdowns. All three touchdown passes went to receiver Iverson Hooks, who finished with 11 catches for 172 yards. Running back Solomon Beebe added a highlight 81-yard touchdown run to lead the ground game.

The Blazers average about 30 points per game while giving up 33. Quarterback Jalen Kitna, who remains questionable this week, has thrown for 1,776 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. Hooks leads the team in receiving yards (560) and touchdowns (5), while Jevon Jackson has carried the ball for 442 yards and three scores. Defensively, UAB allows more than 400 yards per game but has shown progress up front. Linebacker Bryun Parham leads the charge with 76 tackles and 8.5 sacks, ranking among the AAC leaders. The pass rush has improved, but the secondary has given up over 250 passing yards per game.

In the Memphis game, UAB’s defense held firm late, forcing multiple penalties and stopping a fourth-and-goal pass on the final drive. That stand marked a turnaround for a group that had struggled to close games earlier in the season. The next step is proving that performance can move forward to a second straight game, as the Blazers face a UConn offense that is effective both through the air and on the ground.

UConn Looking to Rebound After Double-Overtime Loss

UConn heads home after falling 37-34 in double overtime to Rice, a result that ended its five-game winning streak. The Huskies moved the ball well with 423 total yards, but missed key chances late, including when the kicker slipped while attempting a field goal in regulation. Quarterback Joe Fagnano has been the steady hand for UConn all season, throwing for 344 yards and three touchdowns against Rice. Fagnano has 2,262 yards and 18 touchdown passes for the year.

Wide receiver Skyler Bell continues to be his favorite target, hauling in an 80-yard touchdown last week and leading the team with 845 yards and eight scores. Running back Cam Edwards adds balance to the offense with 753 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 129 carries. The Huskies are averaging about 450 total yards per game and have scored more than 35 points in three of their last four home contests.

Defensively, UConn has had trouble slowing down spread offenses. The Huskies allowed 480 yards and 37 points to Rice, including 256 passing yards from Quinton Jackson. The front has been solid against the run but has struggled to create turnovers. Opposing quarterbacks have found openings against a secondary that’s given up big plays in recent weeks. Even so, UConn’s offense has been strong enough to keep them in every game. Playing at home should help a defense that’s been more reliable in East Hartford.

  • T. Chiaokhiao-Bowman (WR) – Questionable (Knee)
  • M. Brown (RB) – Out (Collarbone)

UAB Blazers at UConn Huskies Pick

Spread Pick for UAB Blazers at UConn Huskies

  • UConn Huskies -12.5 (4 Units)

UConn’s balanced offense gives it the upper hand at home. Fagnano and Bell have been one of the AAC’s most consistent quarterback-receiver duos, and the Huskies’ overall depth should test UAB’s defense over four quarters. UAB has given up more than 30 points in each of its last four road games, and its secondary could struggle against UConn’s passing game. If the Huskies limit turnovers, they should pull away after halftime. UAB is 1-9 ATS in the last 10 games against an Independent. UConn has covered the spread in 7 of the last 10 games played at home.

Over/Under Pick for UAB Blazers at UConn Huskies

  • Over 63.5 (4 Units)

Both teams come in hot offensively, combining for over 850 yards in their latest games. UConn has topped 34 points in three of its last four, and UAB’s offense under Burton showed a major boost last week. Neither defense has consistently limited explosive plays, making the over the stronger play as both offenses continue to find success through the air.
