Warhawks Ready to Battle

The UL Monroe Warhawks are 1-1 after their 73-0 road loss against the Alabama Crimson Tide last time out. The offense has been holding its own as they are 110th with 20.5 points per game. Quarterback Aidan Armenta has struggled this season as he completed 20-of-37 (54.1%) of his passes for 123 yards with one touchdown pass and two interceptions while also rushing seven times for 43 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown. Running back Braylon McReynolds has been helping take some pressure off Armenta’s shoulder as he has 18 carries for 137 yards (7.6 yards per attempt) as well as four receptions for 19 yards (4.8 yards per catch) and a receiving touchdown.

UL Monroe’s defense is not doing too hot as they are giving up 36.5 points per game, which is 125th. The defense has been unable to apply much pressure as they have three sacks and one interception on the season, but no forced fumbles or fumble recoveries. The defense needs to help put the offense in positions to win.

UL Monroe Warhawks at UTEP Miners Pick

Spread Pick for UL Monroe vs. UTEP

  • UTEP Miners -6.5 (5 units)

These teams have just given us the perfect test to see where they stand on a semi-equal playing field, as both teams played a top Southeastern Conference program on the road their last time out and had very different results. UL Monroe lost 73-0 to Alabama, while UTEP lost to Texas 27-10. Aidan Armenta has been brutal under center while Malachi Nelson has been doing a decent job under center. All in all, go with the UTEP Miners to cover the spread as the better team.

Over/Under Pick for UL Monroe vs. UTEP

  • Under 47.5 (4 units)

Two teams that are not strong offensive teams, so these defenses should be able to limit points. These teams are not doing well in terms of passing as the Miners are 97th in the sport with 6.5 yards per attempt, while the Warhawks are 135th in the country with 4.0 yards per attempt throughout the season. Both teams have also been coming off weak offensive showings, granted they were facing superior competition, but there were no signs of doing too much throughout the 60 minutes of gametime. Go with the under 47.5 total points to hit in this game here.
